“It isn’t about finding glasses that look good, it is about finding glasses that look good on you.”

The incredible glasses.com app features 3Dfit technology and is changing the eyewear shopping experience with a smarter, simpler way to buy glasses – making it fun to find the right pair for you.  I had a chance to try out this app and I must tell you I am sold! What an innovative way to try on glasses!  I have been looking for a new pair of sunglasses since my new puppy decided he thought my rather expensive sunglasses was a chew toy.  Granted you can’t really see the part where he chewed but it is time for a new look.  It is a new year!  You can check out how it works here, but it was really easy to download and try out.  What I absolutely love about this idea – besides the fact that the app is free, is you can try on all styles of glasses to your hearts content – in the comfort of your own home.  Just take a picture with your iPad using the instructions they provide, which are very easy to follow, and then voila – try out some different styles.  You are asked a couple questions to refine your search.  Questions like are you looking for a specific brand (I love the Maui Jim’s because they are polarized), colors, styles (here it is broken down into a huge selection: Aviator, Classic, Designer, Fashion, Retro/Vintage, Shield, Sporty, Surf/Skate, and Wrap styles).  Then they ask you what size you might want – small, medium or large.  Do you prefer Polarized glasses – yes or no and then what is your Price Range – and it goes from $0 on up. With each click, you Save what you are looking for and then they will do a search based on your selections.

Another great feature of this app is not only does it show you what this pair of glasses will look like on your face, but if you can read more details and specifications about the ones you like.  For instance, what is the Frame Color, Frame Material, Spring Hinge (yes or no) and Frame Fit.  It even has the lens and bridge width.  Glasses.com really thought of everything when designing this helpful app.  Now you can try on styles you might not have tried at your optometrist office for fear of looking silly.  I tried on some Jackie O style glasses and it was confirmed that though they are a very stylish – they don’t work with my puny head!  Back to the Aviators and Classic styles I went!  They also offer reading glasses, eyeglasses and sunglasses from some top notch designers like Maui Jim, Ray-Ban, Burberry, Kate Spade, and many others.

The glasses.com app utilizes 3Dfit technology and blends the best of Hollywood special effects with advanced computer modeling, giving you the ability to try on more than 100 frames in less than a minute. The 3Dfit technology uses facial mapping to produce a true to life 180° view of your face, showing how each pair of frames fits you in 3D. Then you can compare frames using side-by-side images and save your favorite styles to compare them to one another. The “share” feature allows you to send the images to family and friends for their opinions.  This is a fun way to get your friends involved – your good friends will let you know which ones look best.  It is always good to get another opinion!

The app is available for iPad and newly available for iPhone and iPod touch in the Apple iTunes store, and on Android devices.  Click here to download the app and see a demo of how it works – you will be amazed!

Note:  Today’s post was sponsored by Glasses.com. We were provided with some glasses but this did not affect our opinion in any way.  I think this is one of the best ideas around!  It provides you with a way to see how different styles fit your frame in a simple and easy way – from the comfort of your own home!
