The holidays are really here!  Isn’t it amazing how early the stores get their Christmas decorations up?  I don’t really mind as I like to get my shopping done well in advance so I can (attempt) to sit back and just enjoy the holidays without as much stress.  What about you?  You getting ready for some family time?!  I am happy to be working with PG&E  on their energy-saving tips this holiday season.  Why not cut back on your energy bills and spend it elsewhere and have fun with your family.

There are many benefits of being energy efficient that include:

Direct benefits

  • Financial: saves money
  • Productivity: saves time
  • Comfort: improves quality of life

Indirect benefits

  • Puts less strain on the grid (reduces outages)
  • Puts less strain on other natural resources (like water)
  • Reduces emissions that can harm the environment

Turn off the lights and enjoy some pretty candles and save money in the process!

PG&E have provided some cost-saving tips for us.  For example, if you are in need of a new dishwasher (ours is on it’s last cycle) make sure to check out what rebates are offered on energy-efficient appliance’s.  I just love getting cash-back – don’t you!

Pack a picnic and take a walk in the park with your crew and enjoy some downtime together.

Enjoy Some Family Outings With the Money You Saved:

With the money you save on your energy bills – why not enjoy it with your family doing some inexpensive holiday excursions!  Here are some low-cost ideas to try out!

Check out the Christmas Tree lighting at your local mall.  Grab a cup of hot chocolate with the family and enjoy watching them light up the tree.

Go apple picking in your area.  Read this great post from Alison about her family apple-picking (and apple pie eating) adventure here.

Pack a lunch and head to your local park (weather permitting of course) and enjoy some downtime with your family.

Use some of that money you saved and take the family fishing!

And if the weather permits in your neck of the woods – take the family fishing.  We use to go fishing all the time growing up and it was a fun and inexpensive way to spend time together.

Check with your local resort or nice hotel to see if they have some holiday activities planned.

Enjoy your holiday season!

And make sure to enter the  #PGEhome Instagram Photo Challenge Contest where you have a chance to one of seven $100 Home Depot Gift Cards – happening November 17-23 on their Instagram page: https://clvr.li/pgeinsta.
