Best Holiday Gifts for Your Furry Family

My daughter and Max at the dog park last summer.

As many of you know, we have a 110+ German Shepherd mix that we adopted last summer from the German Shepherd Rescue Group of Orange County.  Max,  his eight brothers and sisters and mom, were found stranded in a Ford Dealership parking lot and were taken in by this wonderful group and provided foster homes until they all got adopted.  It has been quite the journey with Max as I have never had a dog so enjoy his toys, bones and treats like he does!  Never mind that he thinks he is the second child and demands, yes demands attention 24/7.    He knows that sometimes when I come back home he usually gets some treat.  He will follow me out to the car while I unload the groceries with this expanctant look on his face while I grab the bags.  And if I do have a bone or toy for him – wow!  He will parade around the house showing everyone (including his pal, Buddy the cat) his new treat.  It’s hysterical.

So this holiday season let’s not forget our furry family.  I went on a hunt for some great treats and toys for dogs you might want to pick up to put under the tree for your pal!

Betsy Farms:  I really like this company and was provided some Jerky treats to give Max to test out.  He absolutely went crazy for them and was whining to get more!  That is when I know he really likes something – he whines and can barely contain himself to sit for a treat.  My daughter gave him several of the Duck Flavor and he couldn’t get enough of them.

The treats from Betsy Farms are really tasty (just ask Max) and they are made with natural ingredients, free of wheat, artificial preservatives and flavors, low in fat and high in protein and made in the USA.  The chicken, turkey and duck are American raised so you don’t need to worry about any questionable ingredients coming from abroad.  I know there have been several recalls on pet food and treats from abroad, but all the ingredients in Betsy Farms come from the USA.  You can read more about Betsy Farms here.  And find them on Twitter and Facebook.  The dog treats can be found at Walmart, Sam’s Club and other retailers.

Personalized Gifts: Max loves his toys so much that I have to bring them in at night so he can rummage through them and in the morning, I take them outside so he has access to them during the day.  We need to get him a new basket as he did decide that the one we have with the metal handle was quite fun to play with.  I found this cute personalized liner and basket at Personalization Mall.

Toys and More Toys:  And don’t forget to fill their new bin with some new  toys!  How much would your dog like this bucket of colorful balls?  I know Max sure would!  You can lots of colors at Harry Barker.

New Bed: We are on the lookout for a new bed for Max!  This is a yearly purchase because we bring it in at night so I want to make sure it is a nice one.  You can find some nice larger dog beds at Sam’s Club.  But if you have a smaller dog the one above looks great and would be easy to keep clean!  We found this one on Gift.com.

Note:  I was provided with samples of the delicious Betsy Farms jerky treats (just ask Max) but these opinions are my own.  I do not work for, or with, any brand mentioned in this article, no do I have any relationship with them.  I have a relationship with GigaSavvy, for whom I create original editorial content.
