Celebrating Our Disney Side with Mickey Mouse!
Lots of cuties at the party!
Note: I received free products in order to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.
When I received the email that we were selected to host a Disney Side @Home Celebration Party it was like I was eight years old again! There is just something about all things Disney that brings out the big kid in me! We had originally planned to have the party mid-February but had to postpone due to that wonderful neck injury I had last month (post coming up on how I cut the healing time in half!). But we couldn’t have asked for better weather yesterday and our Disney Side party turned into a pool party with the kids! One of the moms joked with me saying thanks for keeping it simple – a Disney and pool party – the kids were beyond excited! My daughter even said it was our best party yet (minus her Minecraft birthday party of course).
There is so much to do with a Disney-themed party I wanted to share some of the fun ideas we used at our party. You can check my Disney Side Pinterest Board to see where I got some of the ideas from and see what might work for you! Many of the party ideas we incorporated didn’t cost a ton of money so keep that in mind that you really don’t need to break the bank hosting a Disney party! In fact, my friend who is super creative and helped with decorating the party, had most of the banners we used and tablecloths. You probably have some tablecloths you could use and odds and ends to make it the super party you envision.
Enjoy lovely dandelion moms and show your Disney Side this year!
Welcome!
This was waiting for our guests as they walked into the pool area.
Ta-da!
Here is our table set-up which was so much fun to create! We chose to decorate in more traditional Mickey Mouse colors and stuck with yellow, red, black and white and used a Mickey image from the invitations throughout the party – from adding it as a label around the water bottles to the cute banner.
Best popcorn maker around!
Our popcorn maker broke a few weeks ago and I was searching for a new one online and came across this ridiculously cute Mikey Popcorn Maker which I immediately fell in love with. I figured we needed one plus it would be a nice addition at our Disney party. I joked with my friend that I didn’t know you could fall in love with a popcorn maker! The fun little popcorn bags were at our local grocery store and I bought the black plastic bucket at Party City for about $1.00.
Add balloons and more balloons!
And no party is complete without balloons! If you host a lot of parties, I think it is more economical to get an helium container at Party City and blow up your own balloons! We did that for my daughter’s birthday party last year (love balloons) and we still had some helium left for balloons for our Halloween party last October.
Luigi’s Casa Della Tires:
The labels really made the food display cute. You can make your own pretty easily. I used polka dot cards that I found at Joann’s and my friend Colleen made the labels. Play around on your computer to print out some designs you like or you can always write on a white label and put it on top of a cute card.
Mickey Mouse Cupcakes:
Colleen made these yummy Mickey cupcakes that the kids just loved. She made chocolate cupcakes with white frosting and put a large Oreo cookie as the face and two little ones on each end as the ears.
Make a Mickey Cake Topper:
This chocolate cake recipe is one I found on Pinterest and the pinner (lulu the baker) claimed it was the best chocolate cake recipe around. I figured that was a pretty bold statement so I tried it out this past holiday season and guess what?! It really is fantastic and so moist and chocolately! Here is the recipe if you want to try it out – even the homemade frosting is ridiculously tasty! And the Mickey Mouse sprinkles can be found on Amazon. You really can find just about anything on Amazon! The cake topper was made by Colleen (told you she is super creative) and really brought it all together. She said she printed out a cute Mickey clipart graphic onto heavy cardstock and cut it out and then taped skewer sticks to the back – viola! Your own Mickey cake topper!
Add some little touches:
As I mentioned, we used the Mickey image and Colleen made some cute water bottle labels that say Disney Side. It was an extra touch that everyone really enjoyed! You almost felt that you were at Disneyland with all the fun Mickey touches!
Keep It Simple:
I saw this idea on Pinterest and just fell in love with the Minnie face! So cute and so incredibly easy! Just use a large polka dots decoration with two smaller ones for the ears. I think it took me less than two minutes to tape these up. I’m all about the easy (a new song title perhaps?).
What To Serve?
The food was fairly simple as well. I thought just about everyone loves a good hotdog (plus we got to write Hot Diggity Dogs as our label) and found some nitrate-free ones at our local Albertsons. We also had some fruit and vegetables, pretzel sticks and gold fish.
Have Fun!
The moms enjoyed some peppered salami, cheese and crackers or “Jeese and Crackers.” Make it fun and come up with some silly names for your labels.
DIY Food Labels:
Here are some of our food labels. Hot Diggity Dogs was for our hotdogs of course, Mater’s Dip Sticks for the carrots and Tink’s Pixie Sticks for the pixie sticks.
Disney Games:
We played Bingo and used the goldfish as the markers (we improvised). There were lots of fun Disney knick knacks for prizes and I picked most of them up at JoAnn’s for about a $1 a piece. Just have enough so everyone gets one prize and that can be their party gift.
Not sure how many goldfish actually made it on the board and how many got eaten! You can make your own Disney Bingo Board by finding pictures of different characters, Disneyland rides and movies and create it online.
All in all we had such a wonderful time celebrating all things Disney! When my daughter told me it was the best party ever (minus her birthday party last year) it really made all the hard work worth it! Thank you to all the moms who joined our fun party and a big thank you to Colleen who helped make it even better with her cute labels, banners and cupcakes and Karin who helped as well!
Note: We were provided with materials in order to host a Disney Side @Home Celebrations party but this does not affect our opinion in any way! We love all things Disney and had an absolute fabulous time preparing and hosting a Disney Side party.
Good news! We have some goodies so you can host your own Disney Party! Enjoy and good luck lovely dandelion moms!

We leave in a few days for our 2nd trip to Disney Parks and the first ride we are planning on riding was our first one we went on the last time. It’s the Haunted Mansion. One reason it’s my favorite is that it was the first ride ever that I could ride with my daughter. She was finally ready to be able to ride and it was the first ride together ever. Yes, I cried a bit because it was such a big step for us. That was 2 years ago and she was 11 years old. Of course the second reason it’s my fave is that it involves ghosts. 🙂

That’s a fun ride – we love it as well. So glad you got to share that with your daughter =)

My daughter and I went to DisneyWorld last month. It was her visit and we had a blast! My favorite ride actually was and has been is the teacups! lol. My daughter loved all the rides especially Splash Mountain. We are going back for her birthday in August and it seems like forever.
