Come Experience Roy’s Restaurant in Newport Beach
A few weeks ago I had a chance to try out Roy’s Restaurant in Newport Beach and I must say I love this restaurant! From the delicious food to great management, I really appreciate how innovative this company is and how they are determined to providing delicious and interesting dishes.
We took our daughter along on our “Date Night” because really, this is a great family restaurant. We saw large groups celebrating a special occasion to families celebrating their daughter’s 1st birthday with a big piece of cake. You get the feeling that this is the type of place people come to again and again.
The internationally-acclaimed Roy’s Restaurant is known for its unique and creative menu, a sensational adventure in bold flavors, and its sincere and engaging hospitality that is a welcome escape from the ordinary dining experience. Roy’s Restaurant was born by blending two dynamic principals: delicious food and hospitality inspired by the “aloha” spirit of the Hawaiian Islands. Inspired by his Japanese roots and native Hawaiian cuisine, Chef Roy Yamaguchi opened the very first Roy’s Restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1988.
Today there are 20 Roy’s locations in the continental United States that are owned and operated by United Ohana, LLC, and another six in Hawaii, one in Guam and one in Okinawa, Japan.
We spoke to Tim Lowenberg, Restaurant Managing Partner of Roy’s Newport, and he provided us with some dishes from their new Thai Creative Menu. You see, every couple months they like to switch the menu up. You will find their standard menu doesn’t change often so regulars can get their favorites . But every couple months, they are inspired to create a menu around bold flavors and Asian influence of Roy’s Pacific Rim Cuisine. I enjoyed learning more about Roy’s and was inspired to see how invested they are in creating a culinary experience for their patrons! They are totally motivated to providing delicious and new dishes every month.
Roy’s Restaurant Presents New Eat Creative Thailand Prix Fixe Menu
Roy’s Restaurant is exploring the vibrant aromas and intense flavors of contemporary Thai cuisine with Eat Creative Thailand, a new three-course Prix Fixe menu that spotlights the region’s ingredients. Guests can experience the diverse sweet and sour, salty and spicy flavors of Thailand, perfectly balanced in one complex palate. We tried the Shrimp Pad Thai and it seriously was the best I have tried! And I lived in Thailand for a few months after college so I have a pretty good idea about Thai food. Surprisingly, it is hard to find good Thai food around these parts, so I was happy to enjoy Roy’s new Thai menu.
They even provided us with their Lemongrass Chicken recipe (see below) that is served on top of creamy jasmine rice and red curry sauce. This dish is so amazing. If you like Thai food – you’ll want to try this at home.
The Eat Creative Thailand Prix Fixe menu is available at Roy’s Restaurant from Sept. 30 through Jan. 6 and offered at locations nationwide, except for Hawaii and Pebble Beach. You are served with a starter and offered a choice of the Shrimp Pad Thai (I recommend this) or the Crispy Vegetable Spring Roll (also really good).
Your entrée choices include Grilled Beef Sirloin or Lemongrass Chicken. Both were amazing but I absolutely love the lemongrass chicken!
And be sure to try these lobster pot stickers. We couldn’t get enough of them – they are delicious!
Roy’s Restaurant is the perfect place for an office party, family celebration or even date night! I like that they truly cater to all types of people. We saw people dressed up and then others dressed more casually. I think their vibe is to come as you are – and enjoy yourself! To make reservations, please visit www.roysrestaurant.com. And be sure to check out their drink menu! I rather enjoyed the Thai Basil Martini that had hints of coconut and lemon. It was really refreshing and ended our fun family night out at Roy’s perfectly.

Note: We were provided a dinner for this review but all opinions are our own.
Good news! They are offering a $50 Roy’s Restaurant Gift Card! Good Luck lovely dandelion moms!

I am not one to get to go out to dinner often, but given the opportunity I would love to go to Roy’s and try the lemon grass chicken as it sounds amazingly delicious!
