Fashion: Spring Fashion Tips

Being from New York the change in season was always a big deal especially when it came to a change in wardrobe. 50 degrees? Let’s put on a bathing suit! Well, maybe not that drastic, but close. The weather here in southern California has been nothing short of wonderful. Sorry to my East coast friends and family, but this is one of the many reasons I chose to move out West.  The warmer weather approaching brings a transition in how we dress.  These are a few things things that I think will make great additions to your closet even if it isn’t quite yet time to retire your snow boots. Hang in there, it’s coming!

Fashion On-The -Go:

A  lighter weight slouchy pant (not too slouchy) and a structured top is a comfortable choice for us moms on the go while still looking fashionable. I can wear this look while running around with my daughters. I can also dress it up a bit for a casual evening by adding a higher shoe (like a wedge) and a jacket.  I like the funky look of this. Stay Cool with Shorts:

Shorts always mean warmer weather and this Spring there are many patterns, textures and colors to choose from. J.Crew, Ann Taylor and the Loft have a few of my favorites. Ann Taylor and the Loft have Petites and Tall in some of their stores and most definitely on their websites which is an added plus. Shorts for women are offered in a variety of lengths to fit each body type and what we feel comfortable wearing without looking like we are going on Spring break. Pair them with a pretty blouse, light weight sweater or even a blazer which can also take you into the evening. Don’t be afraid to mix and match your patterns! Open your mind and try a certain trend that you swore you never would.

Espadrilles Are Back!

As I walked through the locker room of the gym yesterday I spotted a a pair of espadrilles on a woman as she dryed her hair. They were the perfect heigh and shape plus she was wearing them in such a fun color. An espadrille is the epitome of a Spring shoe and now that it is officially spring I can actually put them on my feet. Stopping her mid blow dry to find out where these shoes came from she replied “J.Crew from last year.”  Last year? Not words I want to hear. Knowing J.Crew (can you tell I am a fan yet?) how could they not repeat such a classic, versatile and easy to wear shoe? Well, they did and here it is:

So this spring, enjoy some fun shorts and finish off the outfit with adorable shoes.
