PBS Kids Premieres “Curious George Swings Into Spring” on Earth Day Review & Giveaway
One of my favorite shows of PBS Kids is the two-time Emmy Award winning daily series Curious George. I love how this classic story that we enjoyed as a kid is available for our kids to watch as a series. The television show is designed to inspire kids to explore science, math and engineering in the world around them in a fun and entertaining way. The shows encourages inquiry and curiosity, promotes hands-on exploration and shows parents and caregivers how to support children’s science and math-related play. And who best to teach kids about science and math play than our pal Curious George!

Lesli Rotenberg, the General Manager of Children’s Programming at PBS says “As the number one preschool program,* CURIOUS GEORGE is a family favorite that brings science and engineering concepts to life.” Ms. Rotenberg explains that “At PBS KIDS, our goal is to encourage kids’ natural thirst for learning, so we are excited to offer CURIOUS GEORGE SWINGS INTO SPRING, which will take families on a science adventure that will inspire them to go outside and explore the world around them.”

On-air Program Description:
You know it must be springtime if a curious monkey named George is dancing on the balcony at sunrise! The Man with the Yellow Hat is sure that George has spring fever, and he takes George to the park to experience all the wonders of spring. George is so excited about spring that he wants Hundley to have spring fever, too, but Hundley and the Doorman are busy trying to win the Mayor’s spring cleaning prize. When a broken water pipe floods the building, Hundley has to stay with George in the country, and George tries to make sure Hundley enjoys spring, too.
Poor Hundley can’t seem to get into spring – even with blooming flowers, baby animals and a canoe ride. And to make matters worse – Hundley gets lost in the country! George goes looking for his lost friend and accidentally launches a hot air balloon rally and, piloting a balloon, sails over the countryside. My daughter and I loved watching George fly over the countryside and we talked a bit if we would be brave enough to do this. She is – I am not! Luckily George manages to grab Hundley from a hilltop along the way. Together they balloon to the city. The Man with the Yellow Hat and the Doorman stage a daring rooftop rescue and not only are George and Hundley saved, they even manage to win the coveted Spring Building Prize! And to George’s delight, Hundley now has spring fever, too! (Source: PBS Kids Press Release).

His tail! My toddler even named her monkey backpack-safety harness after him! She takes her Curious George with her whenever she goes into crowded cities. She likes that he lives in a high-rise and has a dog friend. What we see as mischievous misunderstandings, she see’s as normal.

All I know is my soon to be 5 year old had a complete Curious George Room before we moved to FL & we have been renting for almost a year he is always asking when he gets his George room back at the RED house. Well, the RED house (BRICK) is in Indiana and was over 4500 sq ft. He won’t have that room back but we will have his George sheets & Kite & Bedding from PB & Decals that I pray are still working. We have a 2.5 yo. that likes George too. Every evening he wants to watch 3 or 4 Curious George shows as my husband just got Netflix & it was not on Nick Jr. that he was watching as homes & cable etc, are more expensive when you live within minutes of a beach. Now the 2.5 yo. is more into Mickey Mouse & Dinosaurs & Transformers but Hunter wants George Books, Movies, Apps. He would be thrilled. I could also get them Wreck it Ralph, CARS, Mickey Mouse Books or Movies with the Gift Cards. But George has been My almost 5 yo. favorite since I can remember & now that he has him back, he would be so thrilled with his NEW MOVIE> Honestly, unless these things are free or 99cents, I don’t buy them. lol! Many Thanks! He will be getting a George room again in time for his Birthday if our new USED home passes inspection. His Birthday is June 14th so I would most likely save it back for his Birthday. 🙂 Thanks Again to everyone involved! You are all AMAZING & I share you with everyone I know. He likes George’s litle noises & says, “Awe, he’s so cute” He also love the man in the Yellow hat because when he reads to me Gearge & Man in Yellow Hat are about he says over & over on each page! lol! 🙂
