Tips to Get Your Home (and Life) Organized

My wish list includes having my house organized from top to bottom.  One of my best girlfriends is super organized and I swear you could open up any drawer, cabinet, door in her house and it would be organized!  I think there are people who are like that – super organized – but I am not one of them.  However,  I do appreciate it when the house is cleaned up and semi-organized with things in their places.  This summer I have a goal to clear out all the things we don’t need, use or want.  Now, if you saw my garage you would realize what a huge undertaking this really is – but I am determined to clear out the junk!  In some ways it is therapeutic and I look forward to having a house that only has things in it that we truly love and use.  I know that the garage will be the last place I attempt but it will be truly satisfying to have it look like the picture above.  I plan to have a section for my daughter as a play area and an old-school Galaga video game in the corner as well so I can play (and beat) my husband at it!

In my search for finding some ideas on how best to organize certain areas of the house hint: kids room, office, and paper clutter, I came across some cute ideas on Pinterest.  I think I could spend hours on that site and I am not surprised it is the fastest growing social media platform out there!

For Your Pantry:

First off is having a cute pantry!  Wouldn’t it be fun (yes, I did use the word fun when describing my pantry) to have your food labeled in these adorable jars?  I love this idea and you can find cheap containers at stores like Target, Walmart, or IKEA.

Storage Buckets:

I found this cute idea at www.storageandglee.blogspot.com.  We have used chalkboard paint in the past and created a teal-colored chalkboard in my daughters room, in our laundry room and in the kitchen pantry door.  It adds some fun color to the room and is handy when writing notes to one another.

The Kids Room:

This adorable idea can be found at https://iheartorganizing.blogspot.com/p/iheart-project-gallery_19.html.  This blogger is an expert organizer and has so many wonderful ideas for each room in the house!  Love this bench and basket idea.  You could even incorporate this idea in your dining area and put other items in it besides toys and use it as part of your seating.
