Peter Pan and The Lost Boys Party Ideas and Tips!

I love planning parties. It’ s my passion in life! When my friend hired me to create her sons lost boys themed first birthday party I was so excited to get started! I love seeing people’s vision for their party come to life in a unique and affordable way. The first thing I always do when planning a party is figure out the theme and color palette. For this lost boys birthday party we went with neutral colors also incorporating green for Peter Pan and the lost boys.

I always focus on my main centerpiece first which is usually the dessert and candy table. I figure out what’s going to go in the center of the table first and for this party we did adorable color coordinating cupcakes with the glittery Peter Pan’s and feathers coming out of them.

Next I figure out what’s going to go on either side of the table to balance it out. We wanted to create costumes and masks from all of the characters for the kids to wear at the party! We did raccoon hats, animal masks, handmade Peter Pan hats and Tinker Bell fairy wings! On the other side of the table we did all the pirate swag including hats and swords for the children to play with. I then filled in the rest of the table with sweet treats.

We had star cookies for the quote from the story “the second star to the north and straight on till morning,” rice crispy treat tepees, crocodile creek gummy candies along with Tinker Bell pixie dust pixie sticks!

Another big bang for your buck is to use material from a fabric store over your table clothes to give your party that extra pop! For this party I went with brown metallic material over a green tablecloth with a piece of faux fur in the middle of the table. I then filled it in with cute accessories including bottles with feathers a gold antique clock and some framed photos.

The dessert table was a huge hit and everybody loved it. I always try and incorporate a photo backdrop with a piece of matching material as well. We used metallic-red material to match the feather in Peter Pan’s hat! All of the costume props were adorable on the children in the pictures!

The photo backdrop is then used to put the high chair in front of for when the baby does the smash cake. That way all the smash cake pictures have a nice colorful background that matches the parties theme.

Another fun addition to the party was the games for the children to play. We did “walk the plank” with a long piece of wood attached to upside down milk crates.

We also created “crocodile creek” with inflatable crocodiles as a ring toss game.

Next to that we had “pirate pretzel pick up” and the “lost boys can toss.”

The can toss game can be created at home using leftover cans washed out with colored paper glued on to match the theme of your party. The rest of the supplies can be easily found at your local dollar store or party store using matching colors and printable signs that coordinate with your theme.

The Lost Boys Party was a tremendous success with many guests making comments as to the attention to detail and overall greatness of the party. As a party planner, these are the words you really want to hear. The birthday boy James even wore a matching sweater that said Never Grow Up!
