Bill Nye Saves the World Premieres on Netflix April 21st!
Bill Nye Saves the World is an upcoming American talk show hosted by Bill Nye and will premiere on Netflix April 21st. The series will focus on science, and will investigate its relationship with politics, pop culture and society. The first season will explore topics such as climate change, alternative medicine, video games, and sex from a scientific point of view, whilst also refuting myths and anti-scientific claims.
I had a chance to check out a couple of the episodes at the Netflix Headquarters in Los Angeles at their Bill Nye Saves the World screening party. It was super interesting for me to see what the Netflix building looks like! It is a brand-new building that they moved into about two months ago from their Beverly Hills location. Apparently they had outgrown the space and their new office is quite spectacular I must say! I believe it has 14 stories and is filled with the latest and greatest gadgets. From a bar lounge for drinks, comfy seating area to their own theater. But of course right?! It is Netflix! You can check out my video tour inside the building here.
They had a whole area dedicated to Bill Nye Saves the World show and the other two walls had various animations flash across the three walls.
My favorite was when I was taking a picture for a friend in front of the Netflix sign, a Trollhunter came out from behind his rock and jumped on her head. It was hysterical!
Inside the Netflix theater:
First I’d like to mention that I SO want that Netflix beanbag! Right?! They should sell those things! We were seated inside the Netflix theater and were shown the episodes about alternative medicine and artificial intelligence. Both were quite entertaining and I love how they use humor to get their points across. Bill Nye is quite the hero to many and I really appreciate how he shows us (and doesn’t lecture) why science is so important when analyzing topics.
His take on alternative medicine was pretty eye-opening and it reiterated to me that it is important to do my homework when hearing about new treatments. I am pretty open about alternative medicine but his point is to do your homework. Don’t just assume that because a treatment is toted as the next best thing from Asia (for example) that you don’t need to do some research on it. I think you will find this show as entertaining and educational as I did! It is a great family (PG-13 so says Bill Nye) style show that the whole family can enjoy together.
I was able to do a Facebook Live of the Q & A with Bill Nye and cast here you can check out. They sure are an energetic crew that make learning fun!
Though the TV show will be hosted by Nye, five correspondents will assist in the presentation of the show. These include fashion model Karlie Kloss, science YouTuber and educator Derek Muller, comedian Nazeem Hussain, comedian and writer Joanna Hausmann, and the TV host and producer Emily Calandrelli.
Guest Appearances:
The show will also feature guest appearances from Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Rachel Bloom, Joel McHale, Wil Wheaton, Steve Aoki and Tim Gunn. The thirteen-episode series will premiere on Netflix so be sure to check it out! The show’s theme song was produced by Tyler, the Creator.
The Pre-party Decor:
The Netflix crew decorated the lounge area so cleverly!
There will science-related decor throughout!
Of course I was more than happy to try out their cocktails and loved The Edison! See recipe for this delicious bourbon drink below.
The Edison
1 1/2 oz. bourbon
1 oz. lemon juice
1/2 oz honey
3 dashes of bitters and shake and strain over ice.
Be sure to check out Bill Nye Saves the World on Netflix starting April 21st!
Note: We are part of the Netflix StreamTeam and provided with promotional materials throughout the year but all opinions are my own.
