7 Stylish Summer Outfits for Women Over 40

The Cookie Monster says to “own it ladies!” =)

My friends over 40 this post is for you but I do believe these outfit ideas can work for any woman at any age.  I was a little distressed to find that when I typed in Summer Fashion for Women Over 40 mostly frumpy outfits came up on Pinterest!  When I say I was a little distressed is an understatement.  I am not sure why people think if you hit over 40 we aren’t trying anymore or that we only like to wear baggy clothes.  I am on a mission now to make sure that we provide some cute fashion tips for all women – especially over 40! Let me know what you think about these fashion tips!

Add some fun into your wardrobe:

You all know I am a huge fan of polka dots  and they can add a splash of fun to any outfit!  From shoes, to bags to tops, you really can’t go wrong if you invest in a polka dot top!

Casual yet stylish

This outfit is casual yet stylish (Elle Macpherson always looks great!) because of the staples – from the leather belt to the fun straw bag, these two items will keep any outfit up-to-date.  Have fun with some costume jewelry too!  Tassels are big this summer and look great with a cotton t-shirt!

Dark Rinse always looks great

I have several pairs of jeans – from ones that look like leather pants (but are Japanese denim) to torn, but my favorite might be the dark rinse jeans.  I think this style and color is flattering on most body types.  And denim on denim (just make sure they are different shades of denim) looks fantastic together don’t you think?

Booties

Love ankle booties because they can be worn with short(er) dresses to jeans and just make any outfit!  I really like the combo of the blazer and lace top. Love this comfortable yet stylish outfit from Pouted.

Heels

If you are heading out for date night or a girls night out, heels always step it up a notch!  Super sexy and easy to transition from day to night wear.  Throw on some tight(er) jeans that hit your ankle with a cute top – a little loose tucked in the front is very flattering and you are set!

Go Edgy Baby

I think I like Japanese fashion so much because their designs usually have a little edge to them!  I am digging these edgy-style jeans with the side ankle zipper.  The heels are gorgeous, but you could throw on some Adidas and head off for the day.  Would look great at pick-up or a day at Disneyland.

Own It Ladies!

What I like about this outfit is the model/blogger is just owning this outfit!  I do believe that is the best advice someone can give – whatever you are wearing, just own it.  Be confident in yourself and all that you are!  That is such an attractive trait in women – being confident and feeling good shines through and makes us better people! I know I feel better if I’ve made some effort for the day.  Happy people tend to make others happy!  Enjoy yourselves and just have fun with trying new outfits, make up and hairstyles.

Great article, great ideas! I’m in that “over 40” crowd, and I’m with you…why all of a sudden am I expected to look like frump queen? My greatest compliment now is when my 15-year-old daughter raids my closet for blouses. She has a classic boho style, and the fact that she even likes what I buy (let alone desires to borrow it) makes me trust my intuition all the more about what I think is fun and fresh. 🙂
