Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort Adds More Spooky Fun than ever Sept. 15-Oct. 31st

Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort Adds More Spooky Fun than Ever Before with Expansion into Disney California Adventure Park, Sept. 15-Oct. 31, 2017

At Disney California Adventure Park

For the first time, Cars Land in Disney California Adventure will be transformed with a special Haul-O-Ween makeover as the citizens of Radiator Springs don Halloween costumes and decorate their respective homes for the season. The townsfolk celebrate the season by turning Radiator Springs into Radiator Screams.

Lightning McQueen, Mater, Cruz, Red and DJ will be in “car-stume” – as a super hero, a “van-pire,” a pirate, a clown and a punk rocker, ready to go “trunk-or-treating.” Attractions transform, too, with Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree turning spooky as the Graveyard JamBOOree,

and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters getting a seasonal twist to become Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.  At the media night we heard from Charlie Kowalski, Art Director at the Disneyland Resort who is responsible for the overall design of projects including Halloween Time in the park.  We spoke about how much fun he and his creative team had finding ways to bring in family-friendly haunts to the park but with a little more edge this year.  The decorations are all very family-friendly but you will find some spooky fun like a swarm of bats unleashed by Oogie Boogie, the villainous boogeyman from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.” And along Buena Vista Street, guests will enjoy Halloween decorations in store windows and in Carthay Circle, you’ll also see a new 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman himself!

Be sure to stop by the Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark ride as it has been transformed for Halloween!  As you enter the Lobby of the Fortress, you will be startled by flashing alarms and creepy sounds – warning signs that creatures have escaped their glass cages and all kinds of chaos is erupting!

Be sure to check out Cars Land for lots of spooky fun!

We had a chance to get an early preview last Friday night and WOW is the word that kept coming out of my mouth.  You know Disney!  They always put their heart and soul into everything they do.  From checking out the various spooky good food – savory and sweet – to the fun way they decorate California Adventure Park for Halloween, there is a ton to see and do this year.

I spoke to some of the head Jeremiah Balogh, Executive Chef at Disney California Adventure about the treats they created this year that can be found throughout California Adventure Park in various locations.  He spoke about how they were inspired by what the creative department were planning throughout the park as well as ideas that their team came up with. The result is a lot of fun and tasty treats this year!

Candy Cone Pies.

For example the Candy Cone Pies were inspired by what the makeover of Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters into Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.  Be sure to check out the new savory and sweet treats found throughout California Adventure Park!

Mickey’s Halloween Party

Guests are invited to dress in costume for Mickey’s Halloween Party where they will trick-or-treat throughout Disneyland Park for candy and healthy snacks. This year, capturing memories during the party will be easier than ever as guests who have admission to Mickey’s Halloween Party will enjoy the added bonus of unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads during the party, for up to 45 days after the date of capture.

Another extra-special treat is the “Halloween Screams” fireworks spectacular, a Mickey’s Halloween Party tradition presented exclusively for party guests and hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington.

Main Street is all lit up with Halloween frights.

Also exclusive to Mickey’s Halloween Party is the “Frightfully Fun Parade” led by The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow (from the Disney animated classic “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad”). The Horseman rides through the park on his ghostly black steed with a flickering jack-o’-lantern to usher in the parade featuring Jack Skellington followed by a procession of grim, grinning (and hitchhiking) ghosts from the iconic Haunted Mansion attraction. The creepy Dr. Facilier from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog” calls on mystical powers, summoning his Shadow Men from the bayou to loom large over his strange and twisted Voodoo parlor. The mischievous Disney villains appear out of the darkness, ready to stir up trouble. The wicked gathering includes the Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella.

Disney villains, as well as Mickey Mouse and friends, appear at locations throughout the park, and the Cadaver Dans ghostly quartet performs on the Rivers of America in Frontierland.  At the media event last weekend I had a chance to catch The SCAREolers doing a performance in Downtown Disney.  You definitely don’t want to miss these guys!  We were surprised that Mickey’s Halloween Party wasn’t very crowded!  I asked an employee working and she mentioned that this year Disneyland only released a certain number of tickets so that folks could enjoy the park without much of a crowd.  The kids were excited because the wait for most of the rides was under half an hour if not less.  It really was such a blast and the friend my daughter brought said it was one of the best days of his life.  It is memorable for the entire family!

And I loved all the pumpkins found in Downtown Disney! Another popular feature of the party, the opportunity for guests to “mix in” with regular park guests for three hours prior to the party’s start time will allow guests to “park hop” between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks.

You’ll find lots of Mickey’s friends dressed up for Mickey’s Halloween Party!
