Fall Fashion Trends 2013 :: Leather!

 

 

Finally,finally,finally the weather here has cooled down. Today was the first day it felt appropriate to actually have a pumpkin spice latte! Now that the temperatures are getting cooler, I am especially excited to wear one of the biggest trends this fall which is leather and faux leather. When I was in my early 20’s and living in New York City (showing my age now), I had 3 (yes 3) motorcycle jackets. How I wished that I had maybe one of them now?! Alas, I have found some great replacements of not only a motorcycle jacket (now referred to as “the moto”) but of some other fun key pieces to incorporate into your wardrobe. Faux leather is a great alternative if real leather  is not your thing. It can be more comfortable and the price point is easier to accept. One of the great things about these fabrics is the fact that they can be worn during the day and easily transition into the evening. Here we go!

 

 

 

Faux leather arm patch sweatshirt by Aqua available at Bloomingdales. Adore this! Love the key hole back. I also love that this is a sweatshirt which is another key item to have this fall. Put on a cool statement necklace with this or with a basic sweatshirt to add some glamour.

 

 

 

Bailey 44 “stolen bride” (love the name) mixed media sweatshirt from Nordstrom. The lace  sleeve on this is perfect.

 

 

 

 

Equestrian slim ankle pant from Ann Taylor. Perfection and very slimming. I have always loved a riding pant. Wear these with heels, flats, boots or a funky sneaker. 40 percent off right now too!

 

 

 

 

Motorbike faux leather leggings from Zara. These are too cool for school and I absolutely must have them. A nice switch from the basic legging.

 

 

 

Faux leather skirt with seams from Zara in maroon. The color on this is great and I love it with the sweater. Perfect length for just about anyone.

 

 

 

Panel leather skirt from Bebe. This silhouette is being shown not only leather this season but in many other fabrics. If you can do it, do it. I will wear this with tights since I am not 25 or look like my friend Jill who is the only woman in our age group that looks killer in anything. I am ok with that though.

 

 

 

 

 

Faux leather motorcycle jacket with zips from Zara. This is one of the best faux versions I have seen in a jacket so far. Wearing this day and night and night and day.

 

 

 

 

Calvin Klein asymmetrical jacket with faux leather trim from Nordstroms.  This is a great basic. Keeping my fingers crossed for continued  cooler weather!
