Recipes :: For a Delicious Thanksgiving Meal

After searching for the easiest yet tastiest looking Thanksgiving recipes this afternoon,  I am in dire need of a piece of pumpkin pie at the moment! Marie Calendar’s here I come!  We are hosting Thanksgiving dinner this year and I am looking forward to having a big ‘ol feast with our friends and family!  But it can be stressful if you don’t have a game plan so I found some tasty recipes for a more traditional Thanksgiving meal.  I even found a gravy recipe that is almost exactly the one that has been passed on for generations from my mother’s German grandmother to me!  Here are some delicious recipes that include an herb infused turkey, a gorgeous side dish of colorful carrots and the best pumpkin pie recipe (their claim to fame).  Enjoy!

Easy Herb Roasted Thanksgiving Recipe:

Easy and Herb-Roasted were the two words that sold me to try out this turkey recipe from Yumsugar of Popsugar  this year.  She uses fresh herbs and olive oil and provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to make this yummy turkey the morning of.  Perfect if you didn’t have time to Brine it the night before (I have yet to be that organized).  To read more go to Yumsugar.

Red Skin Potato Mash:

This recipe calls for you to not peel all of the potato skin off when preparing to make mash potatoes.  I do love a little bit of the skin left in just for the texture but the Food and Wine website offers several different types of mash potato recipes.  Read more at Food and Wine.  And the Knorr website (the company that has the best spinach and vegetable spice around) offers some tips on what types of potatoes to use for different types of dishes.  Read more here.

Our Family Recipe for Gravy:

This is the closest recipe I have seen for our family gravy recipe!  The only difference is that this one calls from white wine but I think that might be a nice addition!  Apparently it is very close to Martha Stewarts gravy recipe as well so it must be a good one.  This recipe has been passed down from my mother’s German grandmother and it is the one I use every year at Thanksgiving as well.  Enjoy!  To read more go to Moms Town.

Classic Cranberry Sauce:

Growing up we use to just have the cranberry out of the can but I think my mom was the only one who would eat it.  Since then I have tried to incorporate more cranberries into my diet as they are rich with antioxidants.  This is a classic cranberry recipe that we just might be trying out this year.  Read more at Examiner.

Hot Chocolate Anyone?

This just looked too good not to share!  Though it isn’t necessarily a Thanksgiving drink – it might be fun to serve over the Christmas holidays.  They added some Nutella and fresh raspberries to the recipe!  To read how to make this hot chocolate go to BHG.
