PBS Kids Digital Series OH NOAH! Celebrating “El Dia de los Ninos”
The PBS KIDS digital series OH NOAH! (pbskids.org/noah) is expanding with new bilingual content this month! Geared to kids ages 4-7, OH NOAH! features the comic misadventures of Noah, a young boy staying with his grandmother in a community where almost no one else speaks English. As he tries to learn Spanish and makes new friends, misunderstandings land him in wacky predicaments, but he always manages to rebound and cheerfully learn from his mistakes. New animated videos and games are launching on April 30 (a day to honor and celebrate children known as “El Día de los Niños”). New content will include: “Making a Splash,” a new 11-minute video: On…

The Teen Hearing Loss Epidemic
Hearing loss in teens is becoming an epidemic in this country, with 1 in 5 teenagers measured as experiencing some form of hearing loss in 2010 (the date of the most recent study). Traveling has been, and continues to be, the best way to teach our children about life and about themselves – with new opportunities to learn everyday. Since there are so many benefits to traveling, I have had to separate them into several posts. Here are the first 4 groups of life skills kids learn while traveling and tips on how to embrace…

PULSE :: Providing Village Ambulances to Remote Communities in Uganda
Giving birth can be such an amazing experience but imagine if you were unable to have access to a hospital! My pregnancy went really well (minus the 50 pounds I gained) and I had assumed my delivery would be without complications as well. Boy, was I in for a surprise! In the summer of 2006 on July 28th I was admitted into the hospital at 8:40 pm and within a half hour I was on the table having an emergency C-section due to a torn Placentia (how does that happened?). Yes, it was very dramatic and my little Kate had to stay in the NICU for 4 days for monitoring. I completely understand…
