Word UP It’s WordGirl :: New Season Starts August 4th

    July 27, 2014 /

Get ready to embark on electrifying, brand-new, word-fueled adventures when WordGirl, the Emmy Award-winning animated TV series from Scholastic Media, makes its Season 7 debut, Monday, August 4, on PBS KIDS (check local listings)! WordGirl is one of our favorite PBS Kids shows!  I really like that she teaches children about the meaning of words through her adventuring.  Each episode we find WordGirl fighting off some evil doings with her sidekick Captain Huggy Face, while spotlighting a vocabulary word and using it in different situations to help children understand the meaning of the word and how it is used. Make sure to check out our interview the creator of WordGirl, Dorothea…

Bitdefender Security Software Offers Peace of Mind

    July 24, 2014 /

Image courtesy of Flickr  Today’s post is brought to you by Bitdefender When I think about all the private information we save on our computers such as bank accounts, investment information, and not to mention keeping our kids safe from online predators, I am glad there are companies like BitDefender who provide software that helps keep all this information secure.  Just the other day my daughter was mentioning that she has “chatted” online with a 13 year old boy who plays one of the games she likes. As I was sitting there listening to her the hairs on the back of my neck started to rise up.  Turns out she…

While most people choose chiropractic care for themselves as adults, many are beginning to learn of the amazing health benefits for infants and children as well. Although chiropractic is extremely effective for pain relief, people continue to benefit from chiropractic care well after their aches and pains have diminished.   The Benefits of Chiropractic Care: For children, chiropractors can help with a number of common pediatric issues, including reflux, colic, chronic fluid in the ears, ear infections, torticollis, general…

5 Classic Toys To Keep The Kids Entertained

    July 22, 2014 /

Image courtesy of 9bytz   If your house is anything like mine, tackling a to-do list with two lively kiddos is darn near impossible. Especially if it requires sitting down at the computer. It seems no matter what they are engrossed in, as soon as I sit down in my office chair they need 100% of my attention or are hanging like monkeys from my arms. Recently, I really needed to get some things taken care of and started searching the cabinets for entertainment for my little ones. I pulled out the Lite-Brites. Yes, we have the original from way back when, and you know what? They were completely entertained…

Prevention Key In Fight Against Breast Cancer – Part 1

    July 20, 2014 /

Prevention is really the answer to winning the war on breast cancer. What you are about to read are the scientifically proven methods of dramatically reducing your risk of breast cancer. Recent studies have identified a superstar of breast cancer prevention – vitamin D. Women with higher levels of vitamin D have a reduced cancer risk of 50% or more for most cancers including breast. Vitamin D protects against cancer by helping the body regain control over genes that regulate cellular proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis (death of defective cells). These three types of processes: proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis are key factors in the development of cancer. Without a sufficient…

The Kratt Brothers Teach Kids About Wildlife in a New Special

    July 19, 2014 /

There are so many great programs on television that help parents supplement their children’s education.  One of my favorite programs is the Wild Kratt’s.  These brothers, Chris and Martin, have brought the fun into wildlife.  Since watching Zoboomafoo with my then 3 year old,  our family have been big fans of these two.  As a kid, I use to love watching the nature programs and learn about the world around us.  My daughter shares this same love of nature and we enjoy watching Wild Kratt’s together quite often. This coming Monday the Kratt brothers, Martin and Chris will be educating kids about the differences between a crocodile and an alligator.  I…
