Learning About Home Education at the 2014 CHEA Convention

    June 26, 2014 /

We’ve decided to begin homeschooling our children in the fall and I’ve been diligently doing my research and getting to know the various big-names associated with homeschool education. In May, the Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA) hosted their 31st annual convention at the Disneyland Hotel. As part of the convention, new homeschoolers were invited to attend the first day free to take part in the Introduction to Homeschool conference and get a preview of the vendors in the exhibit hall. The conference was informative and covered a lot of the concerns about the legal issues involved and the steps you need to take to get started.  …

Road Tripping :: Essentials For a Memorable Trip!

    June 24, 2014 /

Image courtesy of Regarding Nannies “We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” ~Jawaharial Nehru   This summer we plan to take a road trip up the coast of California into Oregon.  Since it will take about 15 hours give or take (depending on how many bathroom breaks I will need) I thought it might be fun to see what we can do to make the trip even more memorable.  For any road trip the basics in my mind include comfort, games and snacks!  I…

Parenting :: Why Summer Camp Is Hot

    June 23, 2014 /

Image Courtesy of boston.com Every summer parents look for ways to entertain our children. If you haven’t considered it yet, summer camps are a valuable alternative to day care or countless trips to the local park. Summer camps are available in so many formats; half day, full day, week-long, and even two week-long camps. Opportunities abound! But what are your kids really going to get out of summer camp? The specifics depend on what kind of camp they are participating in, but here are a few of the benefits: 1. Kids in summer camps try new things, learn new skills, discover talents and new interests. Learning about themselves and making…

Camp Snoopy Celebrates 30th Anniversary at Knott’s Berry Farm

    June 21, 2014 /

Last week I was invited to attend the reopening of the famed Calico Mine Co. ride and 30th Celebration of Camp Snoopy at Knott’s Berry Farm.  I grew up with Knott’s Berry Farm and loved (and still do) the jelly’s (they have come out with a new jam and funnel cakes they sell at the park.  As part of the celebration of 30 years of Camp Snoopy, Knott’s revitalized the five-acre nature wonderland.  We visited Camp Snoopy during their Halloween Haunt celebrations and really had a great time – this Haunt is geared towards younger children.  The revisions include new all-encompassing trail-like stamped concrete, use of natural wood throughout,…

LEGO Movie Review and Giveaway :: Everything is Awesome!

    June 18, 2014 /

The Lego Movie Giveaway And Awesome Blog App!   My daughter is a huge fan of anything LEGO and so when The LEGO Movie came out a few months ago we had to see it!  I have to be honest, I didn’t like it as much the first time as I did the second and third (and yes, fourth) time I saw it again.  My daughter absolutely loved it the very first time and that is what matters but I think for adults once you know the ending (nope, won’t tell) you will appreciate the movie that much more.  It really is so clever the way it was written and…
