Shipley Nature Center Kicks Off New Children’s Program

    April 10, 2014 /

Shipley Nature Center: If you live in or near Huntington Beach, you might be excited to learn about a new children’s program that is being offered by Shipley Nature Center. If you’re not familiar with Shipley, it’s located in Central Park near Goldenwest Street. One of the first things you’ll see when you walk through the gates at Shipley Nature Center is the interpretive center. The front portion of the center is dedicated to informational items and small gifts, but travel to the back room and you’ll find signboards about the history of the surrounding area and the habitats you’ll find out on the trails. There are also plenty…

Enjoy Some Oldies But Goodies on Netflix

    April 9, 2014 /

These days, it seems that every Thursday our Instagram feeds are filled with baby pictures, awkward family photos and bad, bad haircuts. And we love it. So this month we’re taking a page from the #TBT trend with a trip down memory lane, compiling a list of our favorite blasts from the past. Have fun introducing your brood to your childhood faves, like Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell and Alex Keaton from Family Ties.  My family use to call me Mallory from Family Ties for some reason!  Ha!  Guess I had my head in the clouds as a kid!  I plan to try out the…

Thinking Outside the Box with a Mother’s Day DIY Party

    April 8, 2014 /

Image courtesy of Catch My Party     While no one is mistaking Mother’s Day for other holidays around this time such as St. Patrick’s or Easter, it really should be a more special day than it is. I’m not sure about anyone else, but I take all that my mom has done for me for granted. While we may tell our mother that we love her and appreciate everything she’s done for us (including giving us the chance to live!) To show your mother that you truly care, why not throw her and her friends a DIY party especially for her?!   Marvelous Mommies An easy way to…

    Unique Easter Egg Coloring Ideas

    April 7, 2014 /

Easter and springtime is one of my favorite times of the year.  When I was a child, we would spend hours decorating our Easter eggs in hopes that the Easter bunny would like them.  One of my favorite memories – and one I still laugh about today – is the one where my younger brother and I walked down the stairs on Easter morning only to find that our standard poodle, Max, had gotten into our baskets filled with candy.  The chocolate was all over the carpet and pieces of candy wrappers were strewn throughout the house.  Upon seeing this my brother who was around four years old at that time…

Our Rocky Mountain Family Adventure: Part III

    April 5, 2014 /

Looking to send a postcard with a spectacular mountain range, a glacier, or wild animals on it? Then the town of Jasper, located in the heart of Canada’s Rocky Mountains, is the destination for you. Last summer we flew into Calgary and stuffed as much luggage as is humanly possible into a rental car. We strapped three children (aged 14, 10, and 8) in the back seat and headed northwest—256 miles to be exact. The drive along the way was an adventure in itself. Our first stop was in Banff. Our second stop was the Columbia Icefield. Our third stop, and final destination, was the town of Jasper which is…
