    September 25, 2013 /

    “La Luna is the timeless fable of a young boy coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Featuring original artwork created by the film’s director, Enrico Casarosa, this interactive story experience will delight animation fans of all ages.” ~ iTunes     Many of you might remember watching the short film La Luna before most of the children’s movies out this year.  I loved the simple illustrations and thought the story was so sweet.  They recently released La Luna The Story Project App that features a short film, interactive video and the storybook.  You can even click on the Behind the Scenes icon at the bottom of the first…

    Wellness :: The Importance of Eye Care

    September 25, 2013 /

        While watching a basketball game in high school, I asked my friend sitting next to me if I could check out her glasses – just to see how I looked in them.  Imagine my surprise when I found that I could see much better and thus began my lifetime journey of wearing contacts and eyeglasses.  It does seem surprising that I went through middle and high school and my nearsightedness was never caught!  At my last eye appointment, my optometrist suggested I start wearing reading glasses while on the computer to help with the eye strain.  It has helped me and I find my eyes aren’t as tired at…

    Whole Foods and PBS Kids Promote Healthy Eating

    September 24, 2013 /

          After my health scare this past year, I was reminded of how important it is to be in good health.  It really is the foundation to living a full and vibrant life!  Especially if you have young children, you want to teach them the importance of making good food choices to ensure they grow up appreciating and taking care of their own health.  So I was happy to hear that Whole Foods Market and PBS Kids have partnered up to offer families tools that support healthy eating.  They offer FREE resources, including materials from their newest preschool series, PEG + CAT,  which focuses on preschool math and…

    Musings :: Reconnecting with the Child Within

    September 22, 2013 /

      My husband and I have wanted to find a team sport that our daughter could play so she could learn about team camaraderie.  We were fortunate to get on a soccer team for girls seven and under and she had  her first practice and game this past week.  My husband was quite the athlete and enjoyed playing sports throughout his childhood and into college so his competitive drive is pretty prevalent in any type of competition. His college buddies play a yearly golf tournament that they all go into like they are competing in The Masters.  Our daughter has this same fierce competitive drive and has been known to break down in tears if she loses at Old Maid or…

    Recipes :: Fall Comfort Food

    September 22, 2013 /

        Today is the official start of Fall.  I love this time of year – from wearing fall clothes (my obsession with coats can be fully realized) to making hearty meals that can be enjoyed on a cold fall day.  I found some healthy yet comforting foods the entire family will enjoy.  What’s not to like about Homemade Cheez-Its?  Perfect for football season and for your children’s school lunches.  Enjoy!     Slow-Roasted BLT: Seeing this yummy BLT almost makes me want to eat bread again for the day – but I have taken out gluten so this wouldn’t work.  But for those with no gluten sensitivities, this looks…
