How Do I Know If It’s Autism or Something Else?

    November 3, 2020 /

You’re aware that your child has some differences, but you’re not sure what to make of them. Perhaps you’ve noticed a speech delay, an unexpected way of playing with toys, or a predictable pattern of meltdowns when routines are upset. These can all be signs of autism spectrum disorder, but they don’t in themselves warrant such a diagnosis.  Other Conditions That May Look Like Autism Autism spectrum disorder is such a broad diagnostic category that there is no single way to identify a child as being on the autism spectrum. Many of the behaviors and strengths associated with autism may also indicate other unrelated conditions. Some conditions that share traits…

    Dorktales Storytime Podcast Now Live!

    August 31, 2020 /

One of my favorite aspects of writing children’s stories is meeting other authors and app developers. I met Jodi Murphy of Geek Club Books years ago and she introduced me to her talented son, Jonathan. Jonathan is a SAG-AFTRA voice-over professional under the name of “Jonathan Cormur” and achieving this goal has been his dream. He is represented by JE Talent,  an agency in San Francisco that only represents union talent. Like all creative professionals, agency representation isn’t enough for a sustainable career and one must continually network, build a portfolio of work, and engage in social media to connect with audiences and build a community of fans. I love…

The Sleepover out on Netflix 8/21

    August 21, 2020 /

In this family adventure-comedy, Clancy (Sadie Stanley) and her kid brother Kevin (Maxwell Simkins) discover that their seemingly normal stay-at-home mom Margot (Malin Åkerman) is actually a former high-end thief in the witness protection program. When both their mom and dad (Ken Marino) are kidnapped and forced to pull one last job with an ex-flame of Margot’s (Joe Manganiello), the siblings must team up to rescue their parents over the course of one action-packed night that they’ll never forget. THE SLEEPOVER is directed by Trish Sie (Pitch Perfect 3).  Last week I had a chance to interview some of the cast from The Sleepover including Ken Marino, Maxwell Simkins, Lucas…

    Stuffed Bell Peppers

    July 21, 2020 /

Happy Summer! I hope you are enjoying your summer and getting some sunshine! Last week Melissa’s Produce sent over some fresh summer fruit and vegetables and they had the most gorgeous red bell peppers that were calling my name to make some stuffed peppers! I have to admit I haven’t made stuffed bell peppers before! I have always wanted to and found this easy recipe off Food Network and made some adjustments which I have included. Bell peppers are low in calories and exceptionally rich in vitamin C and other antioxidants, making them an excellent addition to a healthy diet. One medium-sized red bell pepper provides 169% of the Reference…

Soba Texas helps families battle the horrific aftermath of addiction while saving lives; their work continues during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Times are tough and our world is a bit upside down these days. If you or someone you love is struggling with mental health issues or addictions this is a good time to seek help. Soba Recovery Centers offers families in need resources and recovery options.
