Kids :: Teaching Your Kids to be a Bird Sleuth

    April 7, 2013 /

Springtime brings new life and chirping birds among other things.  I just love to look out my window and see our resident hummingbirds stop by for a visit.  My daughter and I went to the nursery last week specifically looking for plants to attract these adorable little birds and hope to have even more visitors stop by!  Our family likes to go on nature walks and lately I have been able to get my six year old more interested in the birds we come across on our walks.  This got me thinking about how to further her education about nature and birds and in my research I came across a great organization that…

Fitness :: Exercise Regimes for a Healthy Lifestyle

    April 5, 2013 /

As moms sometimes there is not enough time to fit in an exercise regime. Becoming a parent doesn’t put a halt to the complexities of life. There are the regular responsibilities of shopping, working, and cleaning. That alone can make fitting in daily or weekly exercise a hassle, but then there’s the parent responsibilities that you love and at times kind of don’t love that seem to suck away the rest of your time. By the time you get a free moment, you might not feel like exercising that time away. Unfortunately exercise should be considered just as vital to you as feeding the kids or cleaning the house. Arranging time…

    Parenting: The Importance of Acceptance

    April 4, 2013 /

As many of you probably already know, April is Autism Awareness Month. As the mother of two children on the Autism Spectrum, I am happy that efforts have been, and continue to be, made to draw attention to this group of disorders which, as a new study suggests, affects 1 in 50 school-aged children in the United States. However… awareness is simply not enough. I’m fairly certain that most everyone in the world has heard of autism. So, while April is Autism AWARENESS Month, I will spend this month promoting ACCEPTANCE.   The Importance of Acceptance: It is not enough to just know that my kids have autism. They need you…

    April 3, 2013 /

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness :: April

    April 2, 2013 /

The Buddy Cruise: This month is Autism Awareness Month so we wanted to feature an organization that helps educate about special needs as well as provides a way for families with special needs children to come together and support one another with their yearly Buddy Cruise. I had a chance to speak to one of the Directors of the organization and she talks about the work they do to promote awareness within the community and in schools. Tell us more about the Buddy Cruise and who started it.  Founded in 2008, Buddy Cruise is a non profit charity that provides educational opportunities and resources for families, while promoting…
