    History of Ice Cream

    July 17, 2016 /

Growing up our family would head to our local ice cream shop, Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors, a couple times a month!  I would switch it up between a banana split or a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream on a cone.  For most people, ice cream brings back happy childhood memories!  Today, July 17th, is National Ice Cream Day and I wanted to find out more about this delicious treat that so many of us enjoy! Food historians tell us the history of ice cream begins with ancient flavored ices. The Chinese are generally credited for creating the first ice creams, possibly as early as 3000 BC.  Marco Polo…

Scrumptious Strawberry Recipes You Must Try Out!

    July 14, 2016 /

Fresh summer strawberries are one of the most popular, refreshing, and healthy treats. They also carry a number of health benefits. Did you know there are over 600 varieties of strawberries? The sweet, slightly tart berries rank among the top 10 fruits and vegetables for antioxidant content. (Source: Medical News Today).  They are an excellent source of antioxidant-promoting vitamin C and manganese and a good source of dietary fiber, iodine, and folate. And if that isn’t enough to convince you to eat more strawberries, they are a good source of copper, potassium, biotin, phosphorus, magnesium, vitamin B6, and omega-3 fatty acids. I have loved strawberries since I was a kid! They are…

Delicious Grilled Sea Bass Quesadilla Recipe

    July 11, 2016 /

Back in the day when most of our friends didn’t have kids,  we would meet up quite a bit for dinner and drinks.  I can still remember playing Cake and Beck on rewind late into the night.  One of my favorite dinners was the one our fisherman friend, Mike would make us by the poolside. His dad and him would go deep sea fishing quite a bit and he would bring us fresh sea bass and grill it on the barbecue and then place the fish in tortillas with some cheese.  They were the best sea bass quesadillas.  I have no idea why I have waited to make this meal again…

Did We Really Just Interview Tarzan? Out in Theaters Friday!

    June 30, 2016 /

THE LEGEND OF TARZAN – IN THEATERS FRIDAY Did I really just interview Tarzan? That is what I said to myself as I walked out of a suite at The Beverly Hills Hilton last week still in a daze from taking a selfie with Tarzan!  From Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures comes the action adventure “The Legend of Tarzan,” starring Alexander Skarsgård (HBO’s “True Blood”) as the legendary character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs.     The night before my husband and I drove up to Hollywood to check out an early screening of Legend of Tarzan and both of us really enjoyed it! We didn’t have…
