    January 30, 2016 /

Written by KAITLIN MURRAY Worldschooling has changed my life. I am a completely different person than I was before and I have learned so many things that I never would have learned in a regular classroom. Travel has given me the chance to see the world and learn about so many cultures, beliefs, and traditions. The world has been my classroom and all the people we meet along the way are our teachers – showing us so many different perspectives and giving us real-life experiences. Here are 5 things I have learned as a teen traveler:  Curiosity Once I started traveling, I realized that there is so much more out…

    Mummies: Secrets from the Tomb

    January 29, 2016 /

I love history. And my children are quite interested in happenings of the past, too, so it’s turning out that we make a pretty good team of explorers. So this year as part of our social studies, I purchased the Story of the World by Susan Wise Bauer. Story of the World comes in four volumes: Ancient Times, The Middle Ages, Early Modern Times, and the Modern Age. We started at the beginning with Ancient times and kicked things off with cavemen. Recently though, we’ve been finishing up our lessons about Ancient Egypt and the Pharaohs. I happened to check the website for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles…

THE FINEST HOURS Highlights Americans Can-Do Spirit and Bravery

    January 29, 2016 /

Since I first saw the previews for THE FINEST HOURS I have been counting the months until it premieres.  I really like all the actors involved – what’s not to like about Eric Bana, Chris Pine, Casey Affleck and Ben Foster?  All the stars and supporting cast do a wonderful job of bring these heroic story to life.   You’ll recognize Holliday Grainger from Cinderella (she plays one of the evil stepsisters) but is so adorable and feisty in THE FINEST HOURS you can’t help but root for her. Film Clip: “Listen Up” My husband and I had a chance to check out an early screening of the movie last night and I am…

Interview with Jack Black of Kung Fu Panda

    January 28, 2016 /

In 2016, one of the most successful animated franchises in the world returns with its biggest comedy adventure yet, KUNG FU PANDA 3. When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible — learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas! Kung Fu Panda 3 is one of the best animated movies I have seen.  I truly loved the wonderful…

Becoming an Active Participant in Your Health

    January 26, 2016 /

With the start of the new year my health was at the top of my mind.  I have been so busy taking care of my family, work and all the other activities that us moms find ourselves filled to the brim with each week that I realized that I wasn’t taking very good care of my health.  You know how it is, we tell ourselves that we just don’t have the time to exercise regularly and will sometimes grab a snack or meal that we don’t normally include in our diet.  I know with all the events I attend with work we are constantly enticed with delicious yet fattening foods.  But I wanted to be an…
