Would You Track Your Teen with Tech?
Would You Track Your Teen with Tech? It’s 9 p.m. on Saturday night. Do you know where your 15-year-old daughter is? Gone are the days of reading your teen’s diary to find out what she’s getting into. Now there’s an app for that—many apps for that in fact. From infant trackers to auto GPS and computer activity monitoring, you can quite literally track your children from birth. But should you? Consider some of the pros and cons and decide for yourself. Know Where Your Kids Are From soccer practice to math tutoring, then to her lab partner’s home to finish their chemistry report—a teen’s schedule can be a…

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness :: #LikeAGirl Project Empowers
Still from the Always Like A Girl Project found on ABC When I found out that I was going to have a little girl while pregnant I thought about how I wanted to be the type of mom that would empower and raise my daughter to be a confident person. Since she was very little, she has been interested in activities that are considered more boyish in nature – building LEGO’s, climbing tree’s and collecting bugs, playing Minecraft – and has had several friends over the years ask her “why do you like boy stuff?” I explained that these are neither boy nor girl “things” and she can like and do what…

The Importance of Managing Our Stress
Image courtesy of PGeveryday The other day I was looking at the P&Geveryday website as part of this campaign and came across an article that made me want to stop browsing and immediately clicked-through to read it. The post talked about the many signs that your body gives you when you are under stress and tips on how to decompress. Summer has officially started in our household! My daughter “graduated” from first grade and will be starting second in about four weeks (she goes to a year round so doesn’t have long breaks). I wanted to make a list of fun things to do this summer to help keep her busy and keep me sane. You know those days when you are thinking what shall we do today – without breaking the bank! Today I plan to make a list of things we would all like to do over the summer. I think the more free-flowing our suggestions are – the better – who knows what might come up that might…

Learning About Home Education at the 2014 CHEA Convention
We’ve decided to begin homeschooling our children in the fall and I’ve been diligently doing my research and getting to know the various big-names associated with homeschool education. In May, the Christian Home Educators Association (CHEA) hosted their 31st annual convention at the Disneyland Hotel. As part of the convention, new homeschoolers were invited to attend the first day free to take part in the Introduction to Homeschool conference and get a preview of the vendors in the exhibit hall. The conference was informative and covered a lot of the concerns about the legal issues involved and the steps you need to take to get started. …

Road Tripping :: Essentials For a Memorable Trip!
Image courtesy of Regarding Nannies “We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.” ~Jawaharial Nehru This summer we plan to take a road trip up the coast of California into Oregon. Since it will take about 15 hours give or take (depending on how many bathroom breaks I will need) I thought it might be fun to see what we can do to make the trip even more memorable. For any road trip the basics in my mind include comfort, games and snacks! I…
