Education :: Exploring The Wild West With The Kids
There’s something about the Wild West that strikes everyone’s interest. For some it’s the cowboys and Indians, for others it’s the gold rush, or the lore of treacherous travels through uncharted wilderness. This summer, we embarked on a mini-exploration of the Wild West and it was fun to see which parts intrigued my kids the most. I’m in the Los Angeles area so we kicked off our adventure with a visit to the Autry National Center. The museum is fantastic. While some of it is structured like a traditional museum – stay behind the ropes, don’t touch the artwork, and keep your voices low- there were several opportunities for…

Day 10 :: Get Your Home Decluttered in 28 Days: Linen Closet
Oh joy! Decluttering the linen closet in our house was long overdue! Can you believe I am literally airing my dirty (well, the linens were clean but you get my drift) laundry on the site? I guess I want to let those of you know who might have a linen closet that looks a little (or lot) like mine that there is hope! Step by step we can get the house de-cluttered! Here are some steps I took and ones I read from the declutter masters on what to do when clearing out your linen closet. Here we go! Step One: Make Space. Clear off your bed…

Latest & Greatest :: The Amazon fireTV
Image courtesy of lsbf.org.uk Amazon fireTV delivers! For the past two weeks, the kids and I have been trying out the new “amazon fireTV” courtesy of the folks over at Amazon. It’s super small. Like tiny. I can grab it and slip it into my purse and take it on vacation with me ‘small’. I like that. I like it. Now you’re probably going “hmm, how small is it”? Let me tell you! It’s just 3/4 of an inch (thick) – it’s a tad smaller than my external backup drive! You can sit that baby anywhere and it blends right in (you may even go where is it … haha)!…

Cooking With Raddish
My kids like cooking. I often attempt to find jobs for them to pitch in with meal preparation, but I find myself in a rush to get the dinners made and forget to include them in the tasks that are suitable for them. I do try to find snacks or meals that they can play a role in, but searching for kid-friendly recipes that really give them the chance to get their hands in there can be time consuming. I was super excited when I stopped at the Raddish booth at the CHEA Homeschool Convention this past April. It was just what I had been looking for. I was…

Day Nine :: Get Your Home Decluttered in 28 Days
It has been a few days since my last declutter/organize your home post because, well, I’ve been decluttering, and then some more decluttering. Boy am I pooped! But taking it day by day, step by step, I do see some light at the end of the tunnel. So don’t fret – if you are just starting at Day One (our front porch) jump in when you can! My daughter recently turned eight and wanted to get a bigger girl room. She even requested a new paint job (all white with one wall painted an apple green) which we may come to next year, but for now, my goal…
