Family :: Staying Fit Together
Image courtesy of Flickr If you are like most busy moms, you are constantly trying to find ways (and time) to exercise. My daughter just had three weeks of Spring Break; having her home was fun but it definitely threw a wrench in my routine. I found myself having to sneak in creative workouts that she wanted to participate in. How did I get her to want to exercise? Simple: I changed the way I talked about physical activity, I made it fun! Have A Dance Party Whether your child is a toddler or a teenager, I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t love dancing?…

Get Away Today Offers Affordable Disneyland Family Travel
Disney On the Brain: This past month has been a whirlwind of all things Disney! My family and I spent four days and three nights at the Disneyland Resort for the Disney Social Media Moms conference where I developed a newfound love for anything Disney. Disneyland really is a top notch family destination and the customer service is just wonderful! We stayed at the Disneyland Resort and I was so impressed with the quality of the food and our room. One of our favorite things in the room (besides the Mickey Mouse lights) was the backboard – when you flip a switch, the board lights up like there is a fireworks…

Healthy Communication and Emotional Development
Photo courtesy of Flickr A common issue in relationships, and an important one for parents to learn, is communication. Many of today’s modern couples were reared in baby boomer, or post-baby boom, homes, and we see a common theme emerge from this generation of parents. The baby boomers of course were the generation that pushed social change to the forefront. Theirs, in essence, was the first generation to value individual emotional needs. In large part this transformation accompanied civil and women’s rights. I put this in context of communication because a classic and painful issue that thwarts communication is something occasionally termed codependence. Codependence is fairly…

Disneynature Celebrates Earth Day with their new movie BEARS
Image courtesy of Disneynature Disneynature BEARS: Last week I attended the Disney Social Media Moms conference with my family and had a wonderful time! It really was a dream trip for my whole family and I plan to write more about the trip and how I have a newfound love for anything to do with Walt Disney. What a truly inspirational man and visionary! As part of the conference, we were treated to a pre-launch viewing of the new Disneynature movie BEARS. I really love nature movies and I told the dad who I sat next to in the theater to not be alarmed if I started crying as I…

Crayons & Whimsy: Not Just A Blog For Teachers
I was recently introduced to the blog Crayons & Whimsy. Written by kindergarten teacher Christy Donnelly, it is meant to be a resource for other teachers but there is so much great information and she offers tons of ideas and activities that can be done at home, too. I believe that education starts at home, so when I find resources like Crayons & Whimsy to offer creative ways to incorporate educational and fun activities into our time at home, I get really excited! One activity from the blog that I love is the I Can Cloud. The white cloud is the centerpiece of the project with the words…

Instagram Inspiration: Making Memories
Growing up in Southern California in the 1970’s and 80’s was a great time to be a kid! We would spend hours at our pool and had many family trips to the beach. It has been great incorporating these same activities we did as kids into our family outings. My husband and daughter have been hitting the beach early in the am for years (and letting tired mom sleep in). He has been secretly wishing she would take to surfing because he has wanted to teach her how to surf since she was a baby. I think he wants a surfing buddy so he has an excuse to hit the beach…
