Bing Smart Search Helps Me Start a New Project!
Most moms are always on the lookout for ways to save time (and money). I am constantly checking out the Internet to get ideas for posts for my sites, new recipes (the family is sick of my ten recipes), and fashion tips. Sometimes, it will just take a picture or short post about something I find interesting that then triggers the creative juices! Recently, I discovered Bing Smart Search on Windows on our new laptop which came with the new 8.1 operating windows. As part of the Linquia community, I was asked to participate in this Bing campaign and see how well it works. So off I went in search…

Reiki: Let the Beauty We Love Be What We Do
Melissa and I chatted about it and decided this post would be about Reiki and its benefits. I practice Reiki and have for close to fifteen years, after an aunt introduced it to me at the hospital where she worked. Staff were being trained to use it on patients in the oncology unit. At that time in my life I was deeply in need of answers, stress management, a guide, anything! All these years later I now provide Reiki Consulting. I want to tell you all about it, but before I get to that part, it is really important to me to explain why I think Reiki works. …

The Latest & Greatest :: Travels with Gannon & Wyatt
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness,” ~ Mark Twain (1835-1910), author of Tom Sawyer, and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It is funny, I was just thinking the other day about how my travels after college really helped open my eyes to the ways of the world. I grew up in Orange County, California and went off to college in Northern Califronia, but it wasn’t until I packed my bags and lived abroad for three years that I started to see the world and myself differently. Traveling was the best thing I could have done to add to my education. I still love to travel and look forward…

Batkid Saves San Francisco and Warms Hearts
A couple weeks ago, I was sent an email from Clever Girls Collective about a little boy named Miles, who has been battling leukemia since he was 18 months old (thankfully it is in remission), and asked that I help spread the word about an incredible event that was happening on November 15th in San Francisco. They were working with the San Francisco Make-A-Wish Foundation to help turn this little boy’s obsession with comic books into a day he (and the rest of the country) won’t forget. All day long, the city of San Francisco helped Miles fight bad guys, rescue a damsel in distress, and drive around with Batman in…

Inspirational Mom :: Meredith Alexander of Milk + Bookies
Recently, I came across an organization that provides books to families in need. As a children’s author and mom to an early reader, I know the importance of providing books and encouraging a love of reading to kids. We are fortunate to have access to many books and always consider it a treat to visit our local independent bookstore. But many families are not in a situation to do this. Meredith Alexander has created a wonderful organization called Milk + Bookies that encourages families to come together for a Milk+Bookies event, have some milk and cookies and buy books that are then donated to families in need. One of the…

Education :: PBS Kids Programming Helps Kids in the Classroom
Curious George is a production of Imagine, WGBH and Universal. Curious George and related characters, created by Margret and H.A. Rey, are copyrighted and trademarked by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and used under license. Licensed by Universal Studios Licensing LLC. Television Series: © 2013. Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved. FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY. My husband and I were pretty strict about what shows my daughter could watch when she was very young. But we were happy to have her watch many of the PBS Kids shows such as Sesame Street, Sid the Science Kid, the Dinosaur Train. We would then go to the PBS Kids website to access their…
