In the Spotlight :: Pirate’s Dinner Adventure
We were invited to see the new Pirate’s Dinner Adventure in Buena Park yesterday and had an absolute blast! I have wanted to see the show for many years now but haven’t had a chance to go. My daughter invited a friend who also loves pirates and the look on both of their faces the entire show was really too much fun. We arrived early and were fortunate to have a quick tour by Celeste who has worked there for over 8 years. She recommended we watch the pre-show and we sat in a large room with a bar as the stage. The pre-show was a precursor of what…

Parenting :: Tips for Parents of First-Time Teen Drivers
It is the day that every teen dreams about and every parent dreads. It typically starts with your teen slipping enthusiastically behind the wheel of your car and often ends with your heart beating wildly in your chest after enduring a grueling and often jerky ride. It is the first day that your teen can drive. It also happens to be one of the best times to set some rules and expectations for your child’s future use of the car. Set Expectations It is important to stress to your teen that driving a car is not a right, but a privilege that she earns by obeying the laws…

Latest & Greatest :: Standing Up by Director D.J. Caruso
Did you know that more than 160,000 U.S. students stay home from school each day from fear of being bullied? (Source: Pacer.org) Just this week while waiting in my dentists office, I read two headlines on the cover of People about two young girls who committed suicide due to bullying at school. It broke my heart to see two young girl’s faces whose lives were cut short by something as useless and cruel as bullying. When I was in 3rd grade there were a group of girls who thought it was fun to start picking on me until it escalated to where I asked my mom if I could switch schools. Luckily,…

Timeless Fashion Essentials
Timeless Fashion Essentials The iconic and classy actress Audrey Hepburn used to say, “the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.” It is true that healthy and glowing physique is key to feeling and looking great –…

Honda’s Project Drive-In Saving a Part of American Culture
A few weeks ago I was thinking about how much fun it was to go to the drive-in as a kid. My parents owned a yellow VW Bus (which ended up being my first car), and my brother and I would sit in the back, in our pajamas, with our bag of popcorn so excited to watch the movie we could hardly contain ourselves! Going to the drive-ins was such a wonderful childhood experience that I wanted to see about taking my daughter to a local drive-in. Little did I know that the only drive-in left in California is located in the top of the state, hundreds of miles away. The…

Reflections :: A Healthy Creative Life
A Reiki client I see is struggling with her creativity. She does not value it enough, and reports that she doesn’t have enough time to “do creative things.” To me, this is not an issue to be approached from the classic viewpoint of scheduling. Creativity is not something you pencil in for an hour at 3pm. Creativity is a function of soul. And the soul life is a life based on experience. It is cliché, sure, but soul is about being, not doing. It is an approach to life. Practicing discipline by creating a routine around nurturing creativity is extremely important, indeed if one is trying to approach…
