The Crayola DJ App Provides Hours of Entertainment
The Google Play Store is all grown up! If you haven’t had a chance to check out the cool apps available now in the Google Play marketplace you just might want to as they have a vast selection of quality apps geared towards children featuring some of your favorite characters like Barbie or Lego, and content from The Jim Henson Company Doozers-Play Along Stories and Crayola’s DJ interactive app from Legacy Games. This past April, the Google Play Store began allowing apps to request a review to earn a “family friendly” designation. Those apps must comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which provides safeguards for children younger…

Saving for College Made Easy by ScholarShare College Plan
In my early thirties I probably read through about every investment book I could get my hands on. The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach and The Millionaire Next Door by Stanley and Danko are some of my favorites because they taught me that making money and having financial freedom is something that can be done – by just about anyone – with diligence and consistency. I was, and still am interested in maximizing the money earned by my family because for me, money represents freedom. Freedom to live the life you want. I’ve come to a point in my life where I don’t want the expensive designer clothes (unless I get them at a…

Dwell :: Tween Bedroom Décor Ideas
How in the world is it possible my little one is turning nine this summer?! It truly goes by too fast! We are working on our list of fun ideas to do over the summer break and one of these include redoing her bedroom. Discover Your Inner Champion New on Disney Blu-ray® Combo Pack, Disney Movies Anywhere, and Digital HD on June 2nd A few months ago I took my eight year old to see McFarland USA and we both absolutely loved it! I appreciate that this is a true story about kids who worked hard to achieve their dreams. And that their coach helped them realize dreams they didn’t even know they had yet. I used this movie and their stories to talk with my daughter about hard work, determination and going after one’s dreams. This true story features high school kids who grew up working in the fields before school and…

What Type of Traveler Are You?
You know those vacations – the ones on a tropical island with nothing around but a white sandy beach, softly-swaying palm trees, and an ice-cold margarita while the crystal clear water gently ripples at your freshly-pedicured toes? Although I LOVE those types of family trips, they are definitely not the reality we have experienced since leaving the comforts of home and traveling full-time!! Instead, our travels include exploring amazing sights, from the crumbling and ancient to the sparkling new, learning about the local culture, trying new foods, getting lost with the locals in remote villages, having to struggle our way in a foreign language just to order a bottle of…

National Bike Month: Keeping Kids Safe
May is National Bike Month, which included National Bike to Work Week (May 11-15). Since 1956, National Bike Month has encouraged riders all over the country to explore the opportunity of bike riding and its many benefits. Now that my kids are getting older, they are both more interested in going out and riding their bikes. I’m not opposed to bike rides, but I tend to be worried about the dangers of cars. There are so many distractions for drivers today: cell phones, GPS screens on the dashboard, loud music. I remember riding my bike up and down the street as fast as I could go, no helmet, and…
