PBS Digital Studios Provides Unique Learning Experiences
PBS Digital Studios is the public broadcaster’s digital arm that is successfully bringing the YouTube generation into the PBS world with 20 million views per month. Part of the PBS Digital Studio’s strategy is to create programming that was digital first and not so much about shortening existing broadcasts. Part of the success is by finding creatives who are already successful on YouTube or other online platforms, particularly in science, and exposing them to a wider audience—in some cases turning YouTube hobbyists into full-time PBS hosts. Disney Pixar “The Good Dinosaur” Activity Sheets & Games
As a kid I was completely fascinated by dinosaurs. It just seemed amazing to me that creatures that big once ruled the Earth! And then over time, poof!, they were gone. I don’t think my mind at that time comprehended the damage an asteroid could do to our planet – and it stills seems pretty daunting don’t you think? My daughter shares this love of dinosaurs and we are really excited to see the new Disney Pixar movie The Good Dinosaur out next month. “The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs…

Crafts :: DIY Decorative Halloween Pumpkins
Spiders, skeletons, spooky ghosts and pumpkins! That is what October is all about. I always try to do something fun with our pumpkins and this year I have decided to make them less scary and more decorative. I may even decide to keep them around until Thanksgiving, with minor adjustments of course. Seasonal crafts can turn out to be pretty expensive but with a good eye you can make some that are more affordable. What I like and look for are flowers and ribbons, pieces of fabric in colors I love. And of course, I love to glitter too. You will need: Fake craft pumpkins I bought mine at Michael’s…

Interview with the Animator of Aladdin’s Genie Eric Goldberg
“Seeing characters become larger than life always brings me joy.” ~ Eric Goldberg One of my favorite parts of the Tomorrowland Media event a few weeks back was our meeting with Greg Goldberg, the Supervising Animator for Genie at the Disney Studios. He has had a long career as animator, film director and voice actor. It was so wonderful hearing him talk about the process of creating the Genie and about Robin Williams. You could tell how much he cared for Robin when he told stories about making the movie. Here are some of our favorite parts of the interview. Mr. Goldberg said that they tried several different styles for…
