Decorate with a DIY Butterfly Flutter
A few months ago I went in to my favorite Vietnamese Restaurant, The Coffee Factory, that is located on Brookhurst in Westminster. This restaurant is the real deal and is run by two sisters and their mother. The food is amazing, the coffee divine and the treats – well, let’s just say you really need to try a traditional chocolate crescant – the way it is really made in Europe and Vietnam! So tasty! Anyhow, I happended to look up while waiting for my soup and saw this: It was so unusual and really cool to look at. I absolutely love butterflies and read recently that they have…

Cooking With Raddish
My kids like cooking. I often attempt to find jobs for them to pitch in with meal preparation, but I find myself in a rush to get the dinners made and forget to include them in the tasks that are suitable for them. I do try to find snacks or meals that they can play a role in, but searching for kid-friendly recipes that really give them the chance to get their hands in there can be time consuming. I was super excited when I stopped at the Raddish booth at the CHEA Homeschool Convention this past April. It was just what I had been looking for. I was…

Netflix Titles, Crafts and Recipes to Promote Kindness and Acceptance
A Little Kindness Never Gets Old. That is the catch-phrase of the Netflix original series, Derek, staring Ricky Gervais, an English nursing home caretaker who only sees the good in people. Wouldn’t life be easier if we all had this sunny disposition and saw only the good?! This month as we are preparing our children for returning to school, Netflix took a cue from Derek and compiled a list of titles that help teach our kids about kindness and acceptance. Derek’s mantra of acceptance, no matter age or ability inspired their list of titles that provide a great resource for parents to remind their kids about seeing the good in others. …

It’s A Girl! PBS Kids Daniel Tiger Welcomes A Baby Sister!
We love Daniel Tiger’s neighborhood because it teaches children about everyday life in a gentle and fun environment! On August 18th, PBS Kids is welcoming a new kid to the neighborhood with the arrival of Daniel Tiger’s new baby sister, Margaret. The season begins with a week full of new episodes that follow many of the important issues young children face with a new sibling. We had a chance to interview Angela C. Santomero, creator of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, in our Inspirational Moms section last year where she talks about her inspiration behind creating such great hits like Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and Blue’s Clues. Below are helpful tips…

Instagram of the Day :: Japanese Paper Mache Mask
The past couple weeks we have been doing a major decluttering and redecorating. I plan to do a post about how we can “redo” our homes without buying anything! One of the changes we made was move this Japanese paper mache mask from a spot that it was relatively unappreciated to front and center on our kitchen wall. When I look at this mask, I remember sitting in a small Japanese restaurant in Hamamatsu City (known for their amazing eel) with a friend and mentioning how much I loved the small mask. She said something to the sushi chef and next thing I know, he is taking it off the…
