New Live-Action Series Odd Squad Premieres 11/26 on PBS Kids
Last April at the PBS annual meeting in San Francisco, I heard about a new PBS Kids series ODD SQUAD that is designed to help kids ages 5-8 years old build math skills. Coming from a student who was deathly afraid of math growing up – I am absolutlely thrilled that PBS Kids has created this series that shows that math can be fun! You see, the show follows two young government agents, Olive and Otto, who use math skills and collaboration to investigate weird and unusual phenomena. ODD SQUAD will premiere today, Wednesday, November 26, 2014, on PBS KIDS with a special one-hour broadcast of two back-to-back episodes, along with integrated digital and offline…

Tech :: Leap Into Gaming with LeapTV
Leap Frog has been the go-to company for many parents because their educational toys and games are really well made and designed. My daughter learned how to read with their LeapReader and we have used their games on several occasions. Designed for kids ages 3-8, the system uses a motion-sensing camera and controller that fits small hands. Audio instruction makes it simple for even the youngest kids to play solo or with a friend! Yesterday we hosted a LeapTV “Leap Into…

Image courtesy of Flickr When I released my first storybook app through PicPocket Books back in January 2010, the app industry was really in it’s infancy stage. Fast forward to 2014 and we are seeing literally hundreds of thousands of children’s games and book apps ready to be downloaded. But the problem for many busy parents is knowing which ones are worth your time and money. There are so many to choose from! But luckily we have resources like Moms With Apps. Last month I wrote about what they offer and how to search their free website. I really like that they categorize the apps so it is really…
