Science Fair Inspiration Movies and Crafts
My little one has always love doing science projects. In fact, her favorite gift she received at her 5th birthday party was a Science Kit her friend gave to her – knowing full well we had a little scientist on our hands! She will spend hours in the backyard with these science kits and loves making her creations. They don’t always come out the way she wants them to but I like that she is so enthralled with making her creations. This month, as part of the Netflix Stream Team, they have provided some movies you can stream to encourage your budding scientists! They also provided some crafts…

Dwell :: Fabulous DIY Laundry Room Ideas
Image courtesy of Pinterest Tis the season for spring cleaning! Spring officially begins March 20th so let’s start decluttering and redecorating now. At least that was my thought process this past weekend as I am ready for the house to get into shape. I wanted to start with our laundry room because I am in there so much. Not sure how we end up with Mount Laundry every week with just four of us (my mother is staying with us at the moment) but we do go through so much laundry. Our Rocky Mountain Family Adventure: Part II
Looking to send a postcard with a spectacular mountain range, a glacier, or wild animals on it? Then the town of Jasper, located in the heart of Canada’s Rocky Mountains, is the destination for you. Last summer we flew into Calgary and stuffed as much luggage as is humanly possible into a rental car. We strapped three children in the back seat (aged 14, 10, and 8) and headed northwest—256 miles to be exact. The drive along the way was an adventure in itself. Our first stop was in Banff. Our second stop en route to the town of Jasper was the Columbia Icefield. Located in Jasper National Park (one…

“I received free products in order to host the Disney Side @Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.” Our Disney Side Party was a Blast! Last week we had our Disney Side Party at a local park with my daughter’s Daisy Troop. We asked that everyone dress up as their favorite Disney character and we had a party filled with some great costumes! It was so much fun that I had to share some of the pictures with you all! Disney and Mom Select chose a couple hundred mom bloggers to work with on their Disney Side campaign which basically encourages people of all ages to tap…

Spotlight On iParent.TV
58 percent of 10- to 12-year-old kids believe they know how to hide their online activities from their parents. This is a pretty unsettling statistic! As a busy parent, business owner, wife, friend, daughter, etc., etc., it can be difficult to always stay on top of all the tech advances. Recently I heard about an amazing new site that is going to be launched this coming July that will help aid parents stay on top of all the tech gadgets, websites, apps that are now available. I know my own young daughter, when given a choice will choose to watch a show on the iPad vs. the television. It…

PBS Kids Provides School Readiness Tips for Parents
School Readiness Tips for Parents Understanding that the first five years of a child’s life are a time of physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth, parents and caregivers should look for resources and tips to help prepare children to enter school, including the following PBS KIDS tips: 1. Be involved and make learning fun. Research shows that children are more likely to succeed academically and socially in school when their parents or caregivers actively support and encourage them to take pleasure in learning. 2. Talk with your child. Young learners need to be in language rich environments. Talking to your child about a book you read together or exploring…
