New Krusteaz Cookie Mixes Make Clean Up a Breeze
I don’t know where in the world you are, but in Southern California it’s been hot. Thanks to the heat, I haven’t been turning my oven on to do much baking, but I recently got a package full of really good reasons to bake cookies. Krusteaz sent me a package full of cookie mixes to try, complete with one apron for myself and an apron for one of the kids, a potholder, a set of measuring spoons and a super-fun set of cookie cutters. Despite the heat, we’ve baked a few batches and we are really enjoying the deliciousness of the soft, chewy cookies. The box came full of different…

Creating the Ultimate Man Cave
We have dreamed, well, at least I have, of creating our garage into an extra room in the house with bean bags, old-school arcade games like PacMan and Galaga and a game station. I know my husband would love to have a putting green put in there as well! Best Buy has come up with some really cool ideas for creating the ultimate Man Cave. It sounds so prehistoric Man Cave and one can’t help but have visions of a man in animal skins carrying a bone – but you know your modern guy would love to have his own space to relax in and do as he pleases. Whether he…

4 Superfood Acai Bowl Recipes
Last week my daughter and I tried out a new restaurant called Vitality Bowls that features Acai bowls filled with a variety of different acai blends and toppings. We decided to try out the Warrior Bowl I think mostly because my daughter liked the name and the employee told me it was the least sweet of the bunch. I have to tell you we both fell in love on the first bite! It was so refreshing and is a cross between a smoothie and yogurt. Add on top some healthy granola, fruit of choice and nuts. There is quite a bit of natural sugar in these bowls so if…

Programming and Science Projects that Promote Learning
Have your kids started school back up this week or last week? Did you have tears of sadness or a little bit of joy that you have some free time on your hands? I think I had a little of both. I enjoy the summer break with my daughter and love to head off to the beach or movies any time during the week. But as I work out of the home, finding a balance can be quite challenging. As parents, we do our best to prevent too much of a summer slide – the loss of certain skills in math and reading that can happen over the summer, but there is…

3 Simple Ideas for School Lunches
Do you stress – even a little – about what you are going to put in your kids lunch for the day? Last year I was telling a friend of mine that my daughter kept leaving her lunch that I made her and was ringing up quite the tab at the school cafeteria. When I would ask my daughter about this she said she didn’t like what I had made her. Hmmm. My friend recommended that I have her help me in the mornings pack her lunch. That way, she couldn’t complain that she didn’t like her lunch – because she helped make it! I have also been…

Interview with National Geographic Photographer Annie Griffiths
Today I had a chance to speak to National Geographic Photographer Annie Griffiths on a conference call along with other National Geographic Kids Insiders. Annie has my dream job! I am not kidding! I remember watching the movie Bridges of Madison County years ago and thought that Clint Eastwood’s character had about the best job as he played a traveling National Geographic Photographer. It seem so magical traveling from place to place documenting what you see with photographs! Well, Annie has this dream job! She has been to over 150 countries, founded The Ripple Effect Images, a nonprofit that helps poor women and also documents programs around the world that empower women and girls. She…
