Netflix’s New Series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
From “30 Rock” executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock comes this hilarious comedy series starring Ellie Kemper (“The Office,” “Bridesmaids”) as a woman who is rescued from a doomsday cult and starts life over as a nanny for a socialite (Jane Krakowski from “30 Rock”) in New York City. I loved watching Ellie on The Office and appreciate her talent. I think she is so funny in a witty and subtle way! Armed with just a backpack, light-up sneakers and a couple of past-due library books, she takes on a world she didn’t think even existed anymore. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt also stars Ellie Kemper, Jane Krakowski, and Tituss…

This past Friday, January 2nd, PBS and MASTERPIECE “hosted” a BIG SIP event in downtown New York City and are encouraging fans of Downton Abbey to get involved and host their own tea party in anticipation of tonight’s premiere of Season 5. I am so excited for tonight’s premiere that we are hosting our own little tea party today and wanted to share some ideas to join in the fun! You can make your tea party as elaborate or as simple as you like. We used my grandmother’s pewter tea set that my mother gave me this last year. I love that it has been in the family three generations…

A Moment with Artist Carmen Salazar of Siemon and Salazar
It was early December, about ten years ago, while staring at my computer screen, my then-boss suddenly announced that he had gifts for the staff! The gifts were not wrapped but it didn’t need it. He handed me a beautiful hand blown, tear shaped glass vessel that was lovingly patterned with alternating stripes of deep crimson and merlot. He then told us that a good friend of his made them, and that his friend and his wife were actually having their annual warehouse sale that very night! Upon arrival at their studio, I was immediately taken by beautiful concrete steppingstones and twinkle-lit olive trees that lined the walkway towards…

DIY Woven Wall Hanging
This is a wonderful project for adults and kids to try. It is easy and fun and you can find stuff in and around your house to use. My son, Ruan, made a very cute one for his teacher as her holiday gift this year. You will need: some yarn and/or fabric cardboard box a stick, twig or driftwood ruler, pencil and scissors Cut a piece of cardboard box. The one I used is 5 x 7. Measure half inch marks on the box. Cut slits approximately 3/4 inch deep. Use yarn as your base and start by adding the yarn though the slits you just cut. Leave a…
