Dwell :: DIY Decor Ideas for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is going to be here before you know it! It seems like every year my daughter and I have so much fun decorating for Halloween and Christmas that Thanksgiving doesn’t get its due course. It is such a wonderful holiday because it is all about being with friends and family, eating to your hearts content and giving thanks for all that you have in your life. I spent too much time this morning checking out all the wonderful ideas on Pinterest (funny how that happens) and found some really great ideas that you can incorporate into your Thanksgiving holiday. Anything from how to decorate the table, DIY centerpieces, an adorable…

Recipes :: Spooky Halloween Appetizers
Today is the day my daughter and I plan to figure out the foods, last minute decorations and activities we will have at our upcoming Halloween party. We are planning on creating our scary skeleton guy today (just stuff your husband’s pants, an old hooded sweatshirt, and shoes with newspaper and put a skull on top), and our scavenger hunt planned out. But I wanted to find some fun finger foods for the adults and kids who will be joining us can enjoy and get a kick out of. Check out the fun and sometimes spooky appetizers that will surely be a hit! 7 Layer Bean Dip: This…

We are planning on having some friends and family over to our place with the upcoming holidays and I wanted to find some unique centerpiece ideas that could be used for Halloween and Thanksgiving. And aren’t the holidays about making those you love around you feel special. I absolutely love all of these ideas and there is even a tutorial from Inspired By Charm who walks you through how to make a gorgeous centerpiece. Have fun! Wickedly Fun Halloween Party Ideas
Every year since my daughter was about two years old we have hosted the neighborhood Halloween party. And each year my daughter and I are looking for some new ideas for decorating our front lawn and party table. She is quite the character and has been drawn to the sparkly skeleton heads found at Target the past few years so we do have an overabundance of skulls and bones! We set up a section reserved just for these spooky things but I wanted to find some new ideas that we can include in this years pot-luck party that both young and old can enjoy. We found some spooky and not so spooky DIY…

Garden :: Using Stones to Add Beauty in Your Garden
There is something so calming about stones in a garden. While living in Japan, I grew to appreciate old stones used throughout a garden, such as a stone pagoda covered in green moss, or the stepping stones used in a pathway to a temple. White sand and gravel had long been a feature of Japanese gardens. In the Shinto religion, it was used to symbolize purity, and was used around shrines, temples, and palaces. In Zen gardens, it represents water, or, like the white space in Japanese paintings, emptiness and distance. (Source: Wikipedia). Years ago, I brought back three large gray stones I found along the beach in northern California that reside…

Instagram of the Week :: The Fascinating Ammonite Fossil
Years ago I use to love to look at design magazines to no end. We just did a major de-cluttering in our garage and I had at least two bookcase shelves filled with these décor magazines (from 2004). Sitting on the couch, with a new magazine or Modern Home decor book was like heaven and I use to relish that time. Fast forward to the present, and I am lucky to find time to sit down much less with a magazine! You know how motherhood can be at times – though I wouldn’t change a thing. When I would look through these home décor magazines – mostly Living, Etc. (from the U.K), Elle Décor,…
