Whether in your home, garden or traveling, here are tips for surviving mosquito season!
Just the other day I was talking to a friend about how mosquitos LOVE me! No joke, if I am with a big group of people, guess who gets eaten alive? Yep! Not sure exactly what attracts mosquitos to one person more than another but I hope to find out after taking the Orkin’s “Buzzer Beater” blog app. During my travels through Vietnam and Thailand many moons ago, I use to have to slather on tons of mosquito repellant but really to no avail. It didn’t really matter what I put on, they’d find the areas I’d not reached and have a little feast. Do you have the same…

Celebrate Earth Day All Month Long With PBS Kids!
Beginning this month, PBS KIDS is springing into Earth Month with its annual Explore the Outdoors initiative, encouraging families to get outside and discover nature. Our family loves to take nature walks and we try to do this together a couple times a week. Sometimes we head to our local park with the dog (though he is not a good family walker – he gets too excited and does better on solo walks!) or the Back Bay while our daughter rides her bike. Our latest adventures include heading to the beach while my daughter searches for seashells while watching the sunset. Getting families outdoors is what Explore the Outdoors…

4 Steps to Getting Your Home Shiny and Happy!
This year I’ve been on a mission to get our home decluttered and organized. I’ve read several books that recommend steps for getting and keeping your home organized and drop-by ready. I’ve had more than my share of situations where friends and neighbors stop-by and I have to apologize for the state of the house and I was tired of that. Don’t get me wrong, life happens, houses get messy (and dirty) but I wanted a home that would be 1) happy 2) organized and 3) peaceful. I find when I have less clutter I feel more at peace in my home. How about you? Are you affected emotionally when the house is disorganized and messy? Here are some…

Go Green this Easter :: Basket and Craft Ideas!
Easter is here! I have such fond memories of hunting for Easter eggs as a kid that each year I try to make it special for my daughter. We usually host the neighborhood Easter egg hunt and love seeing the kids excited about finding little treasures. For the older kids I put money in the eggs and ask them not to pick up the eggs that are “hidden” in plain site. These guys are for the little ones! This year we have some green ideas to incorporate this year for Easter. From using recycled and shredded colored craft paper to fill your baskets to making your own confetti…
