Slow Cooker Jambalaya
Our family would love to visit New Orleans someday soon, but in the meantime we decided to bring a little Cajun food into the house! This recipe was found on All Recipes and is super tasty. Plus I love the slow cooker meals because it just takes a little prep time and the slow cooker does the rest. Add in some of your favorite corn muffins and you are set! Enjoy! You Will Need: 1 pound skinless, boneless organic chicken breast halves – cut into 1 inch cubes 1 pound andouille sausage, sliced 1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juice 1 large onion, chopped 1 cup chopped…

Perfectly Grilled Steak & Lobster Recipe
This week my ever-growing daughter asked to have steak for dinner. It reminded me of the first time she ever had meat – like right off the grill ribs. She was about 4 years old and was at a friends birthday at the zoo. The boy’s father was a chef (lucky kid!) and was grilling up some baby back ribs. I can still remember the look of surprise Kate had while eating these tasty ribs. I think she went back for thirds! To this day, we call her the carnivore because she just loves to eat meat. I try to buy grass-fed, no-hormone steaks because frankly I think they…

Netflix’s ATYPICAL original series shows the humanness in all of us
Atypical is a coming of age story that follows Sam (played by Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autistic spectrum as he searches for love and independence. While Sam is on his funny yet emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the central theme: what does it really mean to be normal? Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as his mother, Elsa, who is on her own journey of self-discovery. Michael Rapaport plays his father, Doug. Brigette Lundy-Paine (Margot vs Lily, The Glass Castle) plays Sam’s sister Casey and Amy Okuda (How to Get Away with Murder)…

Grilled Shrimp with Garlic and Herbs
We have been enjoying quite a few shrimp recipes this summer! Seafood just sounds better during the hot summer months doesn’t it? And shrimp is pretty affordable – especially if you buy it frozen! We (my husband) attempted this new recipe on the grill and it is both in our top 2 favorite shrimp recipes we’ve tried out so far. There is a ton of flavor and super easy to make! We grilled some artichokes as well. First steam them and make sure they are soft enough to eat. The grilling with some spices and a little olive oil just adds some nice flavor. We also grilled some corn.…

Spicy Shrimp Tacos with Avocado Cilantro Lime Slaw
Nothing quite says summer like shrimp tacos while sipping on an icy cold beer if you so please! We found this delicious recipe on Pinch of Yum who brought it back from a trip she took to California. We do know how to eat our tacos out here that is for sure and you’ll find so many different types of tacos here in SoCal! We added a little twist (avocado to the sauce and changed out some spices) but overall you don’t need to do much with this recipe – it really is as good as it looks! The spices mix together so well and it has such an…

Worlds Best Marinara Sauce!
You know some nights you just crave pasta?! Well, last night was one of those nights and we went on a search to try out a new marinara sauce. We had picked up some yummy homemade meatballs at our local Italian deli (I highly advise to do this to cut down on time in the kitchen) and found a delicious recipe on All Recipes. We always like to add our own spin on recipes – you know add more garlic or olive oil. But this recipe is pretty right on so we followed it minus the white wine. The whole family really liked it – even our daughter whose…
