The Fiona Drink: Inspired by Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children
After seeing an early screening of Tim Burton’s newest movie Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children we were inspired to create a drink that Tim Burton fans could enjoy! Be sure to check out our review of this awesome and peculiar movie here out in theaters September 30th. Following is a delicious and awe-inspiring drink our friend and talented bartender, Kevin Feldman, created after Fiona, the feisty peculiar child with wild red head that can control and grow plants quickly. Here is what he has to say about his inspiration in creating The Fiona: As the watermelon/sage ice cube melts in this herbal smoky cocktail, the powers (ability to control plants) of a…

Spaghetti Pie Recipe
Ahhhh, pasta! I love all things with pasta and cheese. So does my daughter. My son eats nuggets. And tenders. A few other items but basically he’s going to cluck one day *lol* From lasagna (roll-up’s too) to manicotti and all the in-betweens. I make an awesome baked spaghetti too – there is a difference between spaghetti, baked spaghetti and spaghetti pie. Making any of those with my daughter takes me back to the summer’s I spent up north with my Gramps. He was a great cook and I spent hours upon hours with him in the kitchen. Now I get the same joy teaching my daughter these recipes –…

Yummy Cinnamon Rolls Recipe
Ooey, gooey, yummy cinnamon rolls! They’re a favorite here in our house. Several years ago, I started teaching my kids to make them and before that having them help me. They love being in the kitchen and these are really easy to make – as the girl loves surprising me with them! Sometimes we change things up (for the filling) or will do a half and half alternative if we’re running low on milk or sugar. We’ve even used packaged (boxed) bread mix, only if they call for water we will use milk or half water and half milk. Hey, you do what you have to do when you want cinnamon…

Delicious Chicago-style Hot Dog Recipe
During my visit to Chicago this past May, I was determined to try out a couple restaurants famous for Chicago-style deep dish pizza and hot dogs. I had never had a traditional Chicago dog so I really didn’t have any expectations! I’ve always been a ketchup kind of girl so I was in for a nice treat. Let me say this is the only way to eat a hot dog now. We duplicated this delicious style hot dog at home and it was super easy. You can mix it up a bit. Like some people like to put lettuce or cucumber slices on the dog, but by no means…

History of Ice Cream
Growing up our family would head to our local ice cream shop, Baskin-Robbins 31 Flavors, a couple times a month! I would switch it up between a banana split or a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream on a cone. For most people, ice cream brings back happy childhood memories! Today, July 17th, is National Ice Cream Day and I wanted to find out more about this delicious treat that so many of us enjoy! Food historians tell us the history of ice cream begins with ancient flavored ices. The Chinese are generally credited for creating the first ice creams, possibly as early as 3000 BC. Marco Polo…
