Inspirational Mom :: WordGirl Creator Dorothea Gillim
I love how life can be so serendipitous (a word you would find on WordGirl). While walking to breakfast at the PBS annual meeting that I attended this month as part of their PBS Kids Ambassador Program, I happened to be walking next to a woman who was also going to breakfast. We started talking and turns out she is the Executive Producer of Curious George but she explained that her “baby” is WordGirl. I literally stopped in my tracks as we are big fans of WordGirl! I told her how my sister-in-law dressed up my niece as Captain Huggyface and her older daughter as WordGirl one year for Halloween. It was…

Inspirational Mom: Angela Santomero, Creator of Super Why
My daughter and I have been watching Super Why since she was about three years old. I love how educational the program is with the Super Readers characters as well as the catchy music. So when I had a chance to speak to the mastermind behind this show as well as Blues Clues and the new Daniel Tigers neighborhood – I jumped at the chance. It is always interesting in hear how people started out in their respective industries. Angela Santomero is the creator of all three shows and is the Founding Partner and Chief Creative Officer of Out of the Blue Enterprises LLC. She also created and hosts a new…

Inspirational Mom: Jodi Murphy of Geek Club Books
This week we are featuring mom Jodi Murphy who is quite inspirational in that she is creating a book and storybook app from characters that her son dreamed up. I love how she is the type of person who looks at life as the glass being half full – if not overflowing. She demonstrates with her Can Do attitude that anything is possible and that with love and support magical things can happen! I had a chance to speak to Jodi about the process of creating Geek Club Books and she provides some insight on steps she took to realize her dream. The message of Geek Club Books is…

Inspirational Mom: Susanna Lee of Peachy Company
It is always interesting to hear from creative moms how they came up with their ideas to start a business. Susanna Lee was inspired to create the Aqueduck Faucet Extender after a trip to Disneyland where she was constantly having her boys wash their hands. I love to hear about moms who have an idea for a product or service and just make it happen! Susanna’s product has gone on to win several awards and last year she was one of the HuggiesMom Inspired Grant recipients. We had a chance to talk about her product idea and how her three boys were her inspiration behind creating Aquaduck. …
