What’s Hot in Southern California :: LEGOLAND Holiday Snow Days
A few months back we visited LEGOLAND California and had a chance to stay in the LEGOLAND Resort Hotel. This was part of the promotion I was doing with my children’s book, Penelope the Purple Pirate, and Talk Like a Pirate Day which is September 19th. Let me just say that my daughter is still talking about our trip and experience and wants to know when we are going back! We requested a pirate room that was filled with LEGO’s made into pirate-themed displays. Loved this guy who was your official greeter getting off the elevators that – by the way – had a disco ball in it. When you push…

Latest & Greatest :: Disney’s New Storybook App Frozen
We had one of those nights last night. You know where your child is up in the middle of the night and can’t seem to get settled. Needless to say we didn’t get much sleep, so we are planning a relaxing day after school and headed to see the new Disney movie Frozen. I can’t wait as I have heard from several of my mom friends that this is a really great movie and that they even cried at the end! So we are super excited about reviewing the new Frozen app created by Disney. The first page opens up and we see the two main characters, Princess Anna and her older sister…

Recipes :: Delicious Holiday Treats
Today we are officially starting our holiday baking craze. Last year we had a blast making some nutty balls (yes, that was the name of the cookie) and fudge for our neighbors, friends and the teachers over at my daughter’s school. I like to try out different recipes each year and last year I attempted my mother’s fudge recipe. The fudge turned out delicious and my husband wants to state for the record that he really made it since he was the one stirring it the whole time. I was just too nervous I was going to get it wrong so I had him make it and directed from the sidelines. Hey,…

Gorgeous Holiday Table Setting Ideas
Part of making the holidays extra special is setting the mood and creating a beautiful table for your holiday meal that shows that you took some extra care for your loved ones. I know it made me so happy to see our Thanksgiving table set up with the help of my daughter with some simple decorations that she helped me make. We made some birch tree covered candle holders that literally took us five minutes to make and cost no money! Minus the tea candle we put in the glass artichoke jar I saved from Trader Joes! We also covered two Ikea glass jars with birch wood that was filled with roses from our…

Skylanders SWAP Force Game – A Review
My brother and I use to spend hours playing on the Atari console and play PONG. Do you remember how that was the hottest game around in the early 80’s? We would spend the whole afternoon playing this simple game but had a blast. Especially when the game would go on for a bit and the pong would go faster and faster until it went so fast you couldn’t keep up your match. That is when it got really exciting! In case you don’t remember what PONG looked like – here is what the screen looked like (primitive isn’t it?). It was a hit with the kids and actually quite fun! …
