The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity
A few months ago my daughter and I were checking out a new shopping center called the SoCo as a friend told me there was a shop there that had the best coffee in town. Now that’s a pretty big statement so I figured I would check it out. The center has some really fantastic and trendy shops and the design of the shopping area is very cool. I felt a bit like a hipster for the day which doesn’t happen too often these days. We came across The Chuck Jones Center for Creativity that had a large statue of the Road Runner and Bugs Bunny out front. Inside the walls of the center…

While searching for fun craft projects to pass the time, I came across this adorable Key to my Heart idea! It is super easy and fun to make. This will be my very first tutorial blog post so bare with me. I always see tutorials where I wish they had given more details so I took a TON of pictures of the way I made this. Inspirational Mom: Florence Wetterwald of blabla kids
The mom I am featuring this week is one of my absolute favorite people! She lives her life like every day is an adventure and never takes things too seriously – yet has built a very successful company called blabla kids. You have probably seen these dolls in top children’s boutiques and trendy children’s catalogues. The designs are so simple yet so colorful. You can’t help but smile when you see a bla bla doll! I met Florence about 15 years ago as her sister and I are good friends and neighbors. She is just one of those people who makes you feel heard and enjoyed. She looks at each day…

PARENTING: It Takes a Village…of Good Listeners
I have started and restarted this piece three times. I have talked with professionals. I have made pages of notes and looked at it from a teacher’s perspective (I spent five years teaching high school). I also tried the political perspective and the psychological perspective. The more perspectives that I try to see, the more I write and then I only end up with more unanswered questions. Finally, I decided to scrap all of the other points of view and focus solely on the parents’ perspective. My perspective. I want to think about what I have done and will continue to do with my children. My ultimate hope is…

PBS Kids Wild Kratts: Creature Power App Review & Giveaway
The Kratt brothers are so wonderful in their new show The Wild Kratts that aired this week on PBS Kids! It is a combination of them as cartoon characters (think Wonder Twin powers and the Scooby Doo teenagers vibe) as well as them out at sea teaching us about our amazing oceans and the creatures that live in them. My six year old is quite obsessed with the show and requests to watch it every night since we received a sample DVD! I am not joking – she is really into the style of the show and loves learning about dolphins and puffer fish. PBS Kids The Wild Kratts has…

Thank You Notes – Why Good Manners Are Always in Style
Do you get your children to write thank you notes? While they might relish the thought of writing thank you notes about as much as a trip to the dentist, it’s worth teaching our kids that thanks and appreciation cost nothing and mean a great deal. It’s never too early to start teaching our kids good manners. Kids might groan at the prospect of sitting down and writing a thank you note so it often helps to explain why a thank you note is important. Someone took time out of their day to choose a present, purchase it with their own money, wrap it, choose a card and send it.…
