Suffragette Brings to Light Women’s Fight for Equality
Last week I was asked to attend the theatrical release for the Focus Features movie Suffragette at The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in Beverly Hills. I read the preview and it sounded like my type of movie so I asked my husband to be my date and accepted the invitation. The movie was released today, October 23rd, in selected theaters in Los Angeles and New York with a full release Thanksgiving week. So if you don’t live in any of those areas be sure to check it out next month. And be sure to bring your tween, teen, sister, mother and/or friend because this is a movie everyone young (and young-at-heart) should see! I…

Come Experience Roy’s Restaurant in Newport Beach
A few weeks ago I had a chance to try out Roy’s Restaurant in Newport Beach and I must say I love this restaurant! From the delicious food to great management, I really appreciate how innovative this company is and how they are determined to providing delicious and interesting dishes. We took our daughter along on our “Date Night” because really, this is a great family restaurant. We saw large groups celebrating a special occasion to families celebrating their daughter’s 1st birthday with a big piece of cake. You get the feeling that this is the type of place people come to again and again. The internationally-acclaimed Roy’s Restaurant is known for…

National Bullying Prevention Month :: Tips & Resources
Image courtesy of Connect Safely.org National Bullying Prevention Month was founded in 2006 by PACER. It began as a week-long event intended to raise awareness about bullying and the long-term effects. After partnering with many education-based organizations such as the National Education Association and the National PTA, PACER has become a reliable source for parents, students, and teachers to get valuable resources about bullying prevention. The campaign has expanded to a month-long awareness event. Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to take part in activities that educate and inform. Teaching our children and our peers about kindness, acceptance, understanding, and getting involved. According to PACER, 1 out of every 4…

Health :: Tips for Keeping Your Family Hydrated
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #PureLifeRippleEffect #CollectiveBias I make it a big priority to make sure that our entire family stays hydrated, from my husband to my child to our furry family. I am constantly bugging, yes, I would use the word bugging, my husband and daughter about making sure they drink enough water during the day. I can usually tell if they haven’t as their moods tend to change. Yes, dehydration can make one feel sleepy, grumpy, and even have low energy! If you are at the point of feeling thirsty, believe it or not, it…

Crafts :: DIY Decorative Halloween Pumpkins
Spiders, skeletons, spooky ghosts and pumpkins! That is what October is all about. I always try to do something fun with our pumpkins and this year I have decided to make them less scary and more decorative. I may even decide to keep them around until Thanksgiving, with minor adjustments of course. Seasonal crafts can turn out to be pretty expensive but with a good eye you can make some that are more affordable. What I like and look for are flowers and ribbons, pieces of fabric in colors I love. And of course, I love to glitter too. You will need: Fake craft pumpkins I bought mine at Michael’s…

6 Gorgeous and Unique Fall Centerpieces
I really do just love this time of year! From the Fall weather (though you wouldn’t know it out here in Southern California – yes, I am complaining of the heat wave mid October!) to fall fashion and home décor. This year I wanted to get some ideas for some pretty centerpieces that I could make through the holidays. Here are some of my favorites! Add in some fruit: This is such a pretty centerpiece. I love how they used a silver pitcher as the vase. This design comes from Rosa Beltran Design. Use a Pumpkin: This centerpiece was used for a wedding but I love how they used a cream…
