Tips for making dental health a priority with your kids
I don’t know about your kids, but it has always been a challenge to get my daughter to brush her teeth. She’ll either fib and tell us she “already did it” before bed or she doesn’t brush long enough so we have to stand there with her and make sure she brushes longer than a few seconds. I recently was asked to check out the Firefly® products that are designed to help turn brush time into playtime. Firefly® is a leader in children’s oral care solutions and has recently expanded its line of toothbrushes to include even more fun characters and products that are ADA-approved and offer Good. Clean. Fun. at an…

Travel :: A Lesson In The Desert
The Joshua tree is commonly found in the Mojave Desert, the Sonoran Desert, and some areas of the San Bernardino Mountains. Native Americans used the rough leaves of this tree to weave baskets and sandals, and ate the flower buds and seeds. Unlike other trees, Joshua trees have no rings so we are unable to accurately determine their age. They may grow quickly through the first five years if the conditions are right, but the average Joshua tree grows only ½ to 3 inches per year. Out in the desert, insects, birds, reptiles, and small mammals make homes out of the majestic Joshua tree. National Park Service celebrates…

Being a Mom (What it Means to Me)
Trying to put into words what being a mom is – to me. It’s hard. I can’t explain it. It’s like a combination of feelings, words, hope, happiness, sometimes sadness and/or grief, being scared or nervous, anticipation, wonderment and awe, as if every feeling I’ve ever experienced is multiplied times a thousand and it leaves me at a loss for words. It’s not simple … yet it is. When I look at my two kids I can instantly see them as if they were just placed into my arms. I can see them or imagine them when they’re graduating or getting married or having children of their own. It’s rewarding…

Connecting With Your Spouse
“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.” ~ Audrey Hepburn Recently, my husband and I had a heart-to-heart talk about the good and not-so-good aspects of our 20 year plus relationship. We talked about where we want to be in five years, ten years and talked about growing old together, but in any relationship, there is always room for improvement! I don’t think we are the only couple who let raising kids, work, being a good son or daughter, paying bills, and things that just happen in life, etc., , take precedence over what was most important to a healthy relationship which I believe starts by…

Mother’s Day Giveaway
Yay! Mother’s Day is just around the corner! Have you hinted yet about what you would like on your special day? I am so very thankful that I have a little girl who calls me mom (or sometimes mommy) and couldn’t feel more blessed that she is my daughter. Some of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts are the ones she made by hand. These hold a special place in our home and it reminds me of how lucky I am. Watching her grow which sometimes feels right before my eyes – she is growing like a weed these days – has been one of my biggest joys. Motherhood…
