Apple Picking in Southern California
Image courtesy of Flickr When I think about fall I can’t help but think of the beautiful reds and yellows of the changing leaves, and the thoughts of pumpkins and apples fill my mind. I love the way the air finally feels crisp in the early morning, and the scent of cinnamon is in the air. I want my children to have those same memories, and the feelings of joy and excitement this season brings. However, fall is a hard thing to come by in Southern California. With the temperatures still well in the 80’s, and the only color leaves we see are green or brown, we have to head…

Tech :: The National PTA and LifeLock #ShareAwesome Campaign
Image courtesy of Flickr Sometimes I think about how much the world has changed in just the past five years. My daughter was about two years old when the first iPhone came out and boy did that open up our world! I mean we now had at our fingertips a computer that allowed us to check our emails, Twitter and Facebook pages at any time of the day and Google just about anything we might want to know, Yelp where to eat, etc., etc.! Whereas before I had to wait to come home and check my laptop. I do sometimes think that life has sped up a bit because of this ability to…

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption Helps Find Forever Homes
Image courtesy of The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Our family is a big supporter of adoption for we were looking to adopt prior to getting pregnant back in 2005. I was told that I would need some fertility “assistance” to get pregnant due to some female issues but I didn’t want to take that route and take a bunch of hormones since my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at an early age. We were going through the process of adoption when I did, in fact, get pregnant with my daughter. But adoption is such a wonderful way to add to your already existing family or help start…

We love heading over to Disneyland to check out their Halloween Haunts! Their Halloween special events and décor start on September 12th and lasts through October 31st. Disneyland at Halloween is a Blast! To read all the fun events they have planned go here. There is a long…

What’s Hot In Southern California: Camp Spooky at Knott’s Berry Farm
Image courtesy of Knott’s Berry Farm. Southern California has no shortage of entertainment venues. But when we decide to treat our kids to an amusement park, we head to Knott’s Berry Farm. As America’s First Theme Park, Knott’s is rich in both fun and history. You can wander through Ghost Town, take a trip back in time at the Western Trails Museum, climb on board a stagecoach, or hitch a ride on the Calico Railroad for a ride around the park (with an appearance by the friendliest train robbers you’ll ever meet). Knott’s features seasonal events, and with Halloween approaching, they have transformed the park accordingly. At night, the…

Parenting :: Tips for Celebrating Mini-Milestones
As we get older, milestones are few and far between. Landing our dream job, getting married, having a baby. But kids, on the other hand, are just starting to reach large and mini-milestones! From bringing home their first pet to going to their first high school dance, frame-worthy moments go far beyond the baby book. I still can remember the first day of high school like it was yesterday – and even what I wore! Many of these mini-milestones stick with you for years to come. Like my first dance in junior high. I went with one of the cutest boys in school (at least I thought so… and most of the girls did too). …
