Take Some Mom Time and Recharge This Summer
Parenting may be a 24/7 gig, but taking time out for yourself helps keep you strong for your family. Some of the ways I like to take some time for myself include taking a nature walk, getting massages, playing at the beach, lunch with some friends and watching some choice shows at the end of the night really helps me decompress from my busy days. I look forward to catching up with some of my favorite characters, like Mr. Selfridge, Sherlock, Don Draper and many more. Every month as part of the Stream Team, Netflix sends me ideas on popular shows the family might enjoy – and is usually…

The Art of Caring: 7 Tips for Helping Others During a Difficult Time
Image courtesy of Flickr Grief is like the ocean; it comes on waves ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim. ~ Vicki Harrison I have wanted to write this post for awhile but it has been one I had a hard time writing because it is all still so painful. A few months back my father passed away at the age of 67 on the golf course (midswing no less) of a massive heart attack. Moms Night Out features four friends who decide they need to have a night out together. The plan is to get dressed up,…

The Tooth Fairy
Image courtesy of Flickr The summer of 2010 was a busy summer for my youngest son Hayden. It was a summer filled with many firsts. He learned how to ride his two-wheel bike—without the training wheels. He learned how to swim in the deep end—without a life jacket. He learned how to blow a bubble (bubble gum). He learned how to whistle. He lost his first, and second, baby teeth. Considering how animated and energized Hayden was—and still is—most of the time, he is also a very relaxed, go-with-the-flow kind of child. That summer, while we were visiting with friends in Montreal, the kids were eating corn on…

Family :: Staying Fit Together
Image courtesy of Flickr If you are like most busy moms, you are constantly trying to find ways (and time) to exercise. My daughter just had three weeks of Spring Break; having her home was fun but it definitely threw a wrench in my routine. I found myself having to sneak in creative workouts that she wanted to participate in. How did I get her to want to exercise? Simple: I changed the way I talked about physical activity, I made it fun! Have A Dance Party Whether your child is a toddler or a teenager, I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t love dancing?…
