Parenting :: Tips to Help Families Celebrate the Seasons Together
The holidays can mean BIG stress for little ones, just as they can for adults – from changes in the daily routine to family squabbles and more. To help keep the season running smoothly for everyone, Angela Santomero, creator and executive producer of top-rated preschool series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood and a child development expert for more than 20 years – as well as a mom herself, has some terrific tips to share. We had a chance to interview Ms. Santomero, and I love how she combines her knowledge of childhood development to create outstanding shows for our children to enjoy and learn from. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood offers…

Batkid Saves San Francisco and Warms Hearts
A couple weeks ago, I was sent an email from Clever Girls Collective about a little boy named Miles, who has been battling leukemia since he was 18 months old (thankfully it is in remission), and asked that I help spread the word about an incredible event that was happening on November 15th in San Francisco. They were working with the San Francisco Make-A-Wish Foundation to help turn this little boy’s obsession with comic books into a day he (and the rest of the country) won’t forget. All day long, the city of San Francisco helped Miles fight bad guys, rescue a damsel in distress, and drive around with Batman in…

Inspirational Mom :: Meredith Alexander of Milk + Bookies
Recently, I came across an organization that provides books to families in need. As a children’s author and mom to an early reader, I know the importance of providing books and encouraging a love of reading to kids. We are fortunate to have access to many books and always consider it a treat to visit our local independent bookstore. But many families are not in a situation to do this. Meredith Alexander has created a wonderful organization called Milk + Bookies that encourages families to come together for a Milk+Bookies event, have some milk and cookies and buy books that are then donated to families in need. One of the…

Instagram of the Day :: The Importance of Lifelines
Lately, I have been thinking about how to balance my work life (which is mostly done online) with my home life. My daughter “gets” that daddy goes to work and doesn’t see him until he gets home at night but seems to get more upset if mom is working at home while she is here. I do my best to try to balance my work and my time with her and some days work out better than others. There is definitely some mommy guilt felt when I have a deadline to finish and she is wanting to play LEGO’s and I am trying to figure out how best to balance this…

Stay Fit with These Mommy and Me Activities
Just after my first child was born, I completely lost track of my weight. I was so busy spending time bonding with my daughter that I stopped taking care of my body. If someone told me that I could have been working out while connecting with my baby, I probably would have thought they were a sandwich short of a picnic. By the time the Mommy & Me exercise craze hit, my daughter was already out of diapers, but I had taken notice. During my second pregnancy, I gained 40 pounds and developed tendonitis in my shoulder. After my son was born, I immediately signed up for…
