Senseez :: Mom Invents Product to Help Special Needs Children
I am a Mom and I created the Senseez Pillows. The name Senseez means to ease the senses. Let me tell you the story of how Senseez was born. When my son was 2, he was diagnosed with a special need. One of his difficulties was sitting in one place long enough to eat his meal, read a story, or sit for circle time. I spoke to an occupational therapist who recommended a vibrating mat to help with this. I bought one for my son, and he instantly loved the sensations! But one day, I wanted to take him to our local library for storytelling, and though the mat would…

Instagram of the Day :: Blueberry Pie Makes My Heart Sing
Tis the Season for Baking! Oh yes, I LOVE Blueberry pie to no end. That first bite with just a hint of yummy whipped cream really does make my heart sing! This past week I was craving a good homemade blueberry pie so I got all the necessary ingredients (did you know a big bag of blueberries is $9.99? – crazy!) at the store and set about making oatmeal raisin cookies for my husband (his favorite), added some Ghirardelli chocolate chips in some of the batch (for my daughter) and while those were in the oven making the whole house smell wonderful, I searched Google for my favorite blueberry pie recipe. …

Reflections :: Mommy Me-Time
Here comes an important self-admission: I have no kids. I am not a Dandelion Mom. I am a single woman in the second half of my thirties who has devoted the better part of two decades to the work of women. Specifically, how we relate to ourselves, our identity, our experiences of self and the roles we play, and our experiences of our spirits, our spiritualities, our personal growths and beliefs. I am not a mom, no, not at all. You’re right, I don’t get it. Yes, the difference between us is that for me, taking time for me, honoring something as decadent as me-time and personal growth…

Dandelion Moms Project Kindness :: August
Dandelion Moms Project Kindness: The idea to start the dandelion moms project kindness came about after watching some of Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s videos entitled the Beckoning of Lovely Project and seeing the great things that were being done during the Random Acts of Kindness week. I wanted to create a community of women and men who wanted to send out some seeds of kindness into the world by doing some easy acts of kindness. Each month we spotlight an organization or person who is helping to make the world a better place to see how we might be able to help out. Project Night Night: This month…

Play :: Celebrate National Friendship Day
“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather is one of those things that give value to survival. “ – C. S. Lewis Friendships are so important to help you get through the rough times in life and enjoy the happy times. I think back to the women I’ve met along the way and who have had an impact in my life and I am so thankful we crossed paths. Some of these friends I am no longer in touch with but I still look back fondly on these friendships. I was so happy to hear that there is a national…

Reflections :: Honoring Life’s Passings
In a few weeks it will be the anniversary of the death of my aunt Mary. I have written here about her before; she helped raise me in that my parents shared a house with her and her husband. Her daughter is the closest I will ever have to a sister. The kind that I talk to almost every day, stay up late waiting for, eat unhealthy food with, and sing songs badly and too loud for no reason other than because the car windows are down. We both just went through chaotic, emotional weeks of great change. While processing on the phone, we only barely touched at…
