The Balancing Act of A Work At Home Mom
I am a Work-At-Home-Mom (WAHM). Just being a Stay-At-Home-Mom is a tremendous job, but now that I’ve thrown “Work” into the mix, it’s become an even more tangled web of tightropes to navigate. Some days the chores don’t get done, and sometimes the kids watch a little more television than I’d like, but I know that eventually, we will reap rewards from my work that will enable us to have a fuller, more adventurous life. We are attempting to teach him that he is a dog and not a human as he so thinks. When I look back at the photo’s I took on my iPhone over the past year, I realize we really did have a great time…

Recipes :: Celebrate New Year’s with some “Lucky” Foods
While living in Japan years ago, I remember that we ate rice bean cakes around the new years in the hopes of bringing good fortune for that coming year. The osechi-ryori, a group of symbolic dishes eaten during the first three days of the new year, includes sweet black beans called kuro-mame. I didn’t mind as those sweet bean cakes were some of my favorite treats to eat and I still daydream about them! That and the yummy eel that was abundant in the city I lived in. In many cultures around the world, January 1st offers an opportunity to increase your good fortune by eating a variety of…

Money :: Trimming the Fat Off of Your Christmas List
With the American Research Group reporting that shoppers are planning on spending just over $800 on holiday gifts this year, it’s not surprising that some people are crying uncle and trying to trim their list of presents down to a more manageable size.
