Start Walking and Reclaim Your Mind and Body
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” ~ Albert Einstein A few months ago I decided to take time out for myself and get back in shape. I was SO over carrying this extra weight I gained from my neck injury and taking steroids (it is a real thing people) and I wanted to find a form of exercise that would fit into my busy lifestyle. Heck, we are all too busy these days, but finding time to take care of our body is so very important. I think many times…

Connecting With Your Spouse
“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.” ~ Audrey Hepburn Recently, my husband and I had a heart-to-heart talk about the good and not-so-good aspects of our 20 year plus relationship. We talked about where we want to be in five years, ten years and talked about growing old together, but in any relationship, there is always room for improvement! I don’t think we are the only couple who let raising kids, work, being a good son or daughter, paying bills, and things that just happen in life, etc., , take precedence over what was most important to a healthy relationship which I believe starts by…

Becoming an Active Participant in Your Health
With the start of the new year my health was at the top of my mind. I have been so busy taking care of my family, work and all the other activities that us moms find ourselves filled to the brim with each week that I realized that I wasn’t taking very good care of my health. You know how it is, we tell ourselves that we just don’t have the time to exercise regularly and will sometimes grab a snack or meal that we don’t normally include in our diet. I know with all the events I attend with work we are constantly enticed with delicious yet fattening foods. But I wanted to be an…

Connecting with Loved Ones
I really like when my job pushes me to think about things – about life, relationships, and ourselves. This month as part of the Stonyfield YoGetters group I was asked to talk with my daughter about when she feels most loved by myself and my husband. The question is not necessarily a tough one to ask but maybe the answers might be hard to hear in the sense of finding out whether I am doing enough of what makes her feel most loved. What do you think your kids would say if you asked them: “So when do you feel loved? What can mommy and daddy do to help you feel loved?”…

The Art of Letting Go
Yesterday I was reminded of what a tough job parents have and knowing when to hold our kids tight and knowing when to let them try new things. On the way back from visiting my brother in San Clemente we drove up the coast and stopped off at a beach that we use to spend a lot of time at when my husband and I were dating. My parents had rented a gorgeous home along the coast in Laguna Beach years ago and when I came back from living in Japan I stayed with them for a couple months. My husband and I have been good friends since high school…

Here’s To All The Sensitive Types
Fear itself made her daring. ~ Ovid As far back as I can remember I have not been a fan of large crowds. When I was younger I tended to have a few close friends and steered away from being in large group settings. But in high school, I went go outside my comfort zone and tried out for the cheerleading squad. But this was somehow different. I was in front of people that I didn’t really see. The crowds were just a blur while I was having fun with my friends being a goofy kid! Flash forward through the years and I am seeing a pattern of avoidance. Avoiding large group…
